Quick answer: Hungary works through VFS Global in the UAE, and the Embassy of Hungary in Abu Dhabi publishes the centre addresses itself: Dubai at Wafi Mall, 1st Floor, Phase 5 Horus, Umm Hurair 2, and Abu Dhabi at The Mall, World Trade Centre, Level B2. You book on the official VFS Global Hungary page, attend in person, and the Embassy decides. Hungary lists its visa fee in dirhams and asks for documents in English or Hungarian, with foreign documents translated and legalised, so prepare the file before you book.

VFS Hungary Dubai: addresses from the embassy itself

Most embassies point to the VFS website and leave the address to your booking confirmation. Hungary is unusual in publishing it. The Embassy of Hungary’s visa information page names VFS Global and gives the two locations above, and it tells applicants to use the VFS Global Hungary page for booking. That matters because VFS moved its Dubai joint centre within Wafi Mall to Phase 5 Horus, first floor, effective 17 March 2025. Some government pages and many blogs still show the old Phase 2 Falcon address, so the Hungarian listing is a safer reference than an older guide.

Our own page, Hungary visa from Dubai, covers the visa types, documents and refusal reasons in full. This guide covers the visa centre and the booking.

Last checked: 2 October 2026, against the Embassy of Hungary in Abu Dhabi visa information page, the VFS Global Hungary UAE page and press coverage of the Wafi relocation. Fees and procedures change, so confirm them on your booking page.

Who is eligible to apply in the UAE

The embassy’s page states that you can apply in the UAE only if you are a citizen or a resident here. A tourist on a short visit visa applying from the UAE would not fit that description. If you hold a UAE residence visa, you apply at either centre. The embassy also lists applications that go to the Embassy and not to VFS: the EU Blue Card, intra-corporate transfer, guest investor visa, national card and self-employment residence permit. If you are applying for one of those, the VFS route in this guide is not the right one.

How the booking works

1. Choose the right visa type

Most UAE residents applying for a visit to Budapest, the Danube towns or a medical or dental trip need a short-stay Schengen visa. Students and workers use long-stay national categories, which have their own fees and checklists.

2. Gather the documents first

The VFS Hungary page says that foreign supporting documents from outside the EU must be translated into English and legalised under the 1961 Hague Convention. Allow time for this. A document that needs translation or legalisation should not be left to the day before an appointment you waited weeks to get.

3. Book on the VFS Global Hungary page

The embassy directs you to the VFS Global Hungary booking page. Book one slot per applicant. Our Schengen visa appointment in Dubai guide explains how the main booking portals work in general.

4. Attend in person

You hand over the documents and give fingerprints and a photograph. The Embassy of Hungary examines the file and decides.

Fees on the VFS Hungary page

On 2 October 2026 the VFS Global Hungary page listed these amounts in dirhams: a standard short-stay visa fee of AED 389, AED 195 for children aged 6 to 12, and a service fee of AED 117.78 for each short-stay application with all taxes included. Long-stay categories were listed at AED 476 with a service fee of AED 172.80. The page also notes that fees charged by the embassy or VFS depend on the current exchange rate and may change without notice. Hungary’s fee schedule is in dirhams, so the euro figure in the Schengen Visa Code (EUR 90 for adults) is a reference point, not what you will see on a Hungarian receipt. Check the live page before you pay.

What Hungary asks for that other countries may not

Hungary’s requirements have a few features worth reading carefully before you book.

  • Bank statements: the VFS Hungary page lists a bank statement for the last six months, original and stamped by the bank. Printouts without a stamp, or a shorter period, are a common cause of delays. Confirm the exact requirement for your category on the checklist.
  • Language: English or Hungarian documents only, with translation and Hague legalisation for foreign originals.
  • Dependants: VFS notes that dependants can use the sponsor’s complete documents, so a sponsored spouse or child should build the file around the sponsor.

Our Schengen visa documents checklist gives the standard file by profile, and the Hungarian checklist for your category is the final word.

Processing time

The Embassy of Hungary states that Schengen visas are processed in 15 days, which can be extended to 30 days in some cases. The VFS page says a minimum of 15 calendar days applies if a complete file is submitted. These are official figures, not a promise for your file, and the embassy keeps your passport until it decides. Put the appointment wait, the processing time and a margin for extra document requests together before you buy flights.

What happens at the VFS centre

  • Entry: your appointment letter and passport are checked at the door.
  • Document check: an agent goes through the file against the list. They check that it is complete, not whether Hungary will approve it.
  • Biometrics: fingerprints and a photo unless exempt.
  • Payment: the visa fee and VFS service fee.
  • Receipt: you receive a reference for tracking, and later collect the passport or choose courier return.

For a fuller walk through a visit, read biometrics at VFS Dubai: what actually happens. Bring everything the checklist lists, printed in order, and leave bulky bags and laptops at home because VFS centres commonly restrict them.

If there are no appointments

The embassy decides how many slots exist. Look across the whole window, check at different times of the day and keep your file ready. Do not apply to Hungary only because it appears easier: a Schengen visa must be applied for at your main destination, and our guide on which Schengen country has the fastest appointment explains why switching tends to end in refusal. Our guide to no Schengen appointments available in Dubai sets out the options, and how far in advance to book gives a timeline. If you are thinking about paid out-of-hours services, see whether VFS Prime Time is worth it.

When an agency helps

We are not VFS or the Hungarian embassy and cannot promise an appointment or a visa. The Hungarian file is document-heavy, which is where an agency is most useful: checking translations, legalisation, stamped statements and consistent dates before you lodge. See visa appointment booking in Dubai for how we work.

Frequently asked questions

Where is the VFS Hungary centre in Dubai?

The Embassy of Hungary lists it at Wafi Mall, 1st Floor, Phase 5 Horus, Umm Hurair 2. VFS moved its Dubai centre within Wafi Mall in March 2025, so use the address on your booking confirmation and treat older guides with caution.

Is there a Hungary visa centre in Abu Dhabi?

Yes. The embassy lists VFS Global at The Mall, World Trade Centre, Level B2. You can choose either centre if you hold a UAE residence visa, subject to availability.

How much is the Hungary visa fee in the UAE?

VFS Global listed AED 389 for adults and AED 195 for children aged 6 to 12 on 2 October 2026, plus a service fee of AED 117.78. Amounts follow the exchange rate, so check the live page.

Do my documents need to be translated?

Documents not in English or Hungarian must be translated, and VFS states that supporting documents from outside the EU must be legalised under the 1961 Hague Convention. Confirm what applies to your documents.

How long does a Hungary Schengen visa take?

The embassy states 15 days, extendable to 30 in some cases. VFS says a minimum of 15 calendar days applies for a complete file. Treat these as official figures, not a promise.

Can I apply for a Hungarian residence permit through VFS?

Some categories go to VFS and some only to the embassy. The embassy lists the EU Blue Card, intra-corporate transfer, guest investor visa, national card and self-employment residence permit as embassy-only.
