Schengen appointment slots in Dubai are routinely booked months in advance.
We secure appointments from 7 days, with your documents prepared and checked beforehand so the slot holds. The appointment is what we arrange, and if we do not secure it in the time we agree in writing, we refund our service fee. The visa decision belongs to the consulate.

🇦🇹 In this guide:
An Austria Schengen visa allows UAE residents to enter Austria and travel freely across all 29 Schengen Area member countries. It is required for non-GCC nationals living in the UAE visiting Austria for tourism, business, study or a short family stay. UAE passport holders are exempt and may travel visa-free for up to 90 days in any 180-day period.
One condition applies before any document is discussed. The Austrian Embassy in Abu Dhabi accepts applications only from holders of a valid UAE residence permit. On a UAE visit visa Austria will not take your application in the Emirates, whatever an agency tells you.
Beyond that it works like any other type C Schengen visa: single, double or multiple entry, and valid across the whole Schengen Area once issued.
A reduced consular band charged as AED 150 applies to nationals of countries covered by EU visa facilitation agreements, including Armenia, Azerbaijan, Cape Verde and Ukraine. The consular fee is payable at lodgement and is not returned if the visa is refused.
Tourist visa: the standard short-stay type C route for UAE residents visiting Vienna, Salzburg, Innsbruck or the Alpine resorts, valid across the Schengen Area once issued.
Business visa: for meetings, conferences and trade fairs. Austria accepts a business application only with an invitation from the Austrian company you are visiting. A letter from your own UAE employer is not a substitute.
Family and friends visit visa: for relatives or friends living in Austria, supported by an invitation and proof of the relationship.
Study, culture and sport visits: short courses, concerts and competitions sit in the same type C band when the stay is under 90 days.
Visa for domestic staff: where a housemaid, nanny or driver travels with the family, Austria requires its own bilingual sponsor declaration.
Airport transit visa: required for certain nationalities transiting an Austrian airport without entering the Schengen Area.
Long-stay national visa (Type D): for study, work or residence beyond 90 days, a separate route with its own documents.
Austria has outsourced its visa intake in the Emirates to VFS Global, which runs Austria Visa Application Centres in Abu Dhabi and Dubai. Those are the only two: there is no centre in Sharjah, Ajman, Umm Al Quwain, Ras Al Khaimah or Fujairah.
There is no emirate-by-emirate split here: either centre will take your file. What does not change is who decides it. Austria keeps a single mission in the country, the Austrian Embassy in Abu Dhabi on Reem Island, and there is no Austrian consulate in Dubai. The centre takes the file; the embassy decides it, and no paid service changes that.
Attendance is in person, and that includes children of any age, so a family of four books four appointments rather than one.
Check as well that Austria is the right country to apply to. Schengen rules decide this: you apply where you will spend the most nights, and if no single country dominates, to the one whose border you cross first. If you are combining Vienna with Munich or Venice, count the nights before booking.
If you gave fingerprints for a Schengen visa within the past 59 months, EU law allows them to be reused, but whether that removes your appointment is decided at the centre.
The published checklist for an Austrian short stay from the UAE, tourism or business:
Every document must be in German or English; anything else needs translating before you attend. The ten-year residence history catches most people: if you have changed employer three times since 2016, that is three old permits to track down.
An Austria Schengen visa from Dubai is straightforward when the file is complete on the day and painful when it is not. This is how we run it.
The Austrian Embassy states that a Schengen application can take 15 to 45 calendar days to process, and it currently warns of longer than usual processing times and asks applicants to apply early. Read that as an instruction, not a formality.
You may lodge up to six months before you travel and, as a rule, no later than 15 calendar days before departure. Six months ahead is not over-cautious for Austria, it is sensible, and that goes double for the ski season and the Christmas markets, when demand from this market peaks.
One practical relief: if you need your passport while the application is processed, VFS can hand it back once the file has gone to the embassy.
Nobody can offer a faster decision. You are also free to apply yourself, directly with VFS Global, at no cost beyond the official fees.
No. The Austrian Embassy in Abu Dhabi accepts applications only from holders of a valid UAE residence permit. On a visit visa you would apply in your country of residence or nationality instead.
The Austria visa fee is EUR 90, charged as AED 386, for adults and children over 12, and EUR 45 or AED 193 for children aged 6 to 11; under 6 is free. The visa application centre adds AED 122.66 per application. A reduced consular band of AED 150 applies to nationals covered by EU visa facilitation agreements, including Armenia, Azerbaijan, Cape Verde and Ukraine.
Either. VFS Global runs Austria Visa Application Centres in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, the only two in the country. Wherever you lodge, the Austrian Embassy in Abu Dhabi takes the decision.
The embassy states 15 to 45 calendar days, and it currently warns that processing is taking longer than usual. You can lodge up to six months before travel and no later than 15 calendar days before departure.
Yes. Austria requires applications to be lodged in person and that includes children of any age, so a family of four needs four appointments. Minors also need parental authorisation and copies of both parents’ passports.
A minimum of EUR 30,000 in medical cover, valid for the whole period of travel across the Schengen Area.
The Austrian checklist asks for copies of every UAE residence permit you have held in the past ten years, not just the current one. If you have changed employer several times, tracking down the old cancelled permits takes time, so start early.
Yes, but Austria accepts a business application only with an invitation from the Austrian company you are visiting. A letter from your own UAE employer does not replace it. The rest of the file is the standard short-stay checklist.
Austria publishes its own bilingual declaration for the sponsor to sign when a housemaid, nanny or driver travels with the family, confirming that no work conflicting with Austrian labour law will be done during the stay and accepting financial responsibility for the trip. Prepare it in advance: families discover it at the counter and lose the slot.
Yes. Once the application has gone to the embassy, VFS Global can return your passport if you need it for other travel, and processing continues.
You apply to the country where you will spend the most nights. If no single country dominates, you apply to the one whose border you cross first to enter the Schengen Area. Applying to the wrong mission is a common reason for refusal.
Yes. A valid Austria Schengen visa lets you travel across all 29 Schengen Area member states for up to 90 days in any 180-day period, provided Austria is the main destination of the trip you applied for.
Checked on 23 September 2026. Rules and fees change, so confirm with the official source before you apply.
