The best Schengen visa agency in Dubai is one that applies to the right country, meaning the one where you spend the most nights, books at the right visa centre for that country and for the emirate that issued your residence visa, and never sells you an appointment. The Schengen visa fee is β¬90 for adults, set by EU rules, and the decision always belongs to the consulate. Use the checks on this page on any agency you are considering, including Visa Doctor.
What a good Schengen visa agency in Dubai should already know
A Schengen visa covers up to 90 days in any 180-day period, but you apply to one country’s consulate, not to “Europe”. A good agency gets that country and its visa centre right before anything is booked.
The main destination rule
The European Commission’s rule is simple. If you visit more than one Schengen country, apply at the consulate of the country where you will spend the longest time. If your stays are of equal length, apply at the consulate of the first country you will visit. As a general rule you apply where you legally live, so UAE residents use missions in the UAE. Our guide to the Schengen main destination rule works through real itineraries.
VFS Global or BLS: it depends on the country
Each Schengen country chooses its own visa centre provider in the UAE, and some split applicants by emirate. Four examples from official pages:
- France: France-Visas states that all French visa applications in the UAE are handled by the consular section in Abu Dhabi, with applications lodged at VFS Global Abu Dhabi, including for residents of Dubai and the Northern Emirates. See our France visa page.
- Spain: the Embassy of Spain in Abu Dhabi directs Schengen applicants to the BLS Spain Visa Application Centre, by appointment. See our Spain visa page.
- Italy: the Embassy of Italy in Abu Dhabi accepts applications through BLS International only where your UAE visa was issued by the Government of Abu Dhabi. Residents of Dubai and the Northern Emirates apply through the Consulate General in Dubai and VFS Global Dubai. See our Italy visa page.
- Germany: the German Missions in the UAE work exclusively with VFS Global. Residents of Dubai and the Northern Emirates submit in Dubai, and residents of Abu Dhabi and Al Ain submit in Abu Dhabi. See our Germany visa page.
Fees and timings
The European Commission lists the Schengen visa fee as β¬90 for adults and β¬45 for children aged 6 to 11, and notes that a visa service centre may charge an additional fee. You must apply at least 15 days before your trip and no earlier than 6 months before. The normal processing time is 15 days, which can be extended to up to 45 days where a more detailed examination or more documents are needed.
Waitlists
Some missions run waitlists when demand is high. The German Missions in the UAE, for example, ask applicants to register on the VFS Global waitlist as early as possible, and state that registered applicants get the chance to book appointment slots in chronological order. An agency that tells you to register early is worth more than one that promises a date. Our guide to how the VFS waitlist works has the detail.
Eight checks for a Schengen visa agency, and how to verify each one
The best Schengen visa agency in Dubai passes all eight checks below. Our own evidence is in the last column, so you can test us the same way.
1. Applies to the right country
- Why it matters
- The EU rule decides which consulate is responsible for you.
- How to verify
- Give the agency your itinerary and ask which country you should apply to, and why.
- Visa Doctor’s evidence
- Our main destination rule guide sets out the EU rule with worked examples.
2. Knows the right centre for your country and emirate
- Why it matters
- France, Spain, Italy and Germany all work differently in the UAE.
- How to verify
- Ask which centre handles your application and whether your emirate of residence matters.
- Visa Doctor’s evidence
- We publish a guide for each Schengen country naming the centre that handles it in the UAE. Start from our Schengen visa page.
3. Uses official portals, never resold slots
- Why it matters
- VFS Global says it does not sell appointments and does not work with third parties.
- How to verify
- Check the confirmation comes from VFS Global or BLS.
- Visa Doctor’s evidence
- We book only through the official VFS Global or BLS portal and waitlist for each country, so your confirmation comes from the centre itself, and we do not resell appointment slots.
4. Quotes the official fee correctly
- Why it matters
- The β¬90 visa fee is set by EU rules. The centre’s own charge is separate.
- How to verify
- Compare the quoted fee with the European Commission’s page.
- Visa Doctor’s evidence
- Our Schengen page lists β¬90 and β¬45 and states that the centre charges its own fee on top.
5. Honest about processing time
- Why it matters
- The standard is 15 days and can be extended to up to 45 days.
- How to verify
- Ask what happens if the consulate needs more time, and plan your bookings around it.
- Visa Doctor’s evidence
- Our Schengen processing time guide quotes the official 15 and 45 day figures.
6. Uses the consulate’s own checklist
- Why it matters
- Each consulate may ask for extra documents.
- How to verify
- Ask which checklist they work from and compare it with the consulate’s website.
- Visa Doctor’s evidence
- Our Schengen documents checklist starts from the EU list and adds what UAE residents need.
7. No promise of approval
- Why it matters
- Only the consulate decides.
- How to verify
- Read the website and ask directly. Any guarantee should end the conversation.
- Visa Doctor’s evidence
- Every service page says the decision belongs to the consulate. We confirm our service fee in writing before payment. If we fail to book your appointment in the time we agree in writing, we refund our service fee.
8. A licence, a real office and named people
- Why it matters
- You know who holds your passport and who answers for your file.
- How to verify
- Check the licence on the issuing authority’s portal and read the newest Google reviews.
- Visa Doctor’s evidence
- SPC Free Zone licence 4417571.01, verify it here. Office 311, Stadium Point, Dubai Sports City. Co-founders Bartu Ulucay and Barlas Ulucay. Rated 4.9 on Google.
Red flags specific to Schengen visas
- Appointment resellers. VFS Global states that it does not sell visa appointments, that appointments are free of cost and booked only on its own website, and that it does not work in association with any third-party entities. BLS International’s Italy centre in Abu Dhabi states that it has no affiliation with any agents in the UAE and is not responsible for fees paid to them.
- “Apply to an easier country”. Applying to a country that is not your main destination, because it has slots, goes against the EU rule.
- The wrong centre for your emirate. Italy and Germany both decide the centre by where you live or which emirate issued your visa. An agency that books you wherever there is a slot has not checked.
- Premium services sold as a faster visa. VFS Global states that opting for any value-added service has no influence on a quicker or positive visa decision.
- A guaranteed visa. VFS Global and BLS both state that the decision belongs to the embassy or consulate.
Questions to ask a Schengen visa agency before you pay
- Based on my itinerary, which country should I apply to, and why?
- Which centre handles that country in the UAE, and does my emirate of residence change it?
- Is there a waitlist for that country, and should I register now?
- Where will my appointment be booked, and will the confirmation come from VFS Global or BLS?
- Can I have a written quote that separates the β¬90 visa fee and the centre’s charge from your own fee?
- Which consulate checklist will you use for my documents?
For a general checklist that works for any destination, see our guide on choosing the best visa agency in Dubai.
What no Schengen visa agency can do
The consulate decides every Schengen visa, and no agency in the UAE can change that. An agency cannot approve your visa, shorten processing, create an appointment the centre has not released, or let you apply outside your jurisdiction. What a good agency controls is the file: the right country, the right centre, matching documents, and readiness the moment a slot opens. If there are no slots for your dates, our guide on what to do when no Schengen appointments are available covers the honest options.
How we wrote this page
Visa Doctor is a licensed visa documentation agency in Dubai with a commercial interest in this topic, so we do not name, score or rank any other agency here. Instead we list the checks that matter for a Schengen visa, how to verify each one, and our own evidence for each. Every fee, rule and visa centre on this page comes from the European Commission, the consulates concerned and the visa centres themselves, checked on 23 September 2026. See our editorial policy.
Frequently asked questions
Which is the best Schengen visa agency in Dubai?
The best Schengen visa agency in Dubai applies to the right country and centre, uses only official portals and says plainly that the consulate decides. Visa Doctor (Visa Doctor FZC, licence 4417571.01) is a Dubai visa documentation agency rated 4.9 on Google. You can test it against the eight checks on this page, as you would any agency.
Which country should I apply to for a Schengen visa from the UAE?
Apply to the country where you will spend the longest time. If your stays are of equal length, apply to the first country you will visit. This is the European Commission’s rule, and a good agency checks it against your itinerary before booking anything.
Is it VFS Global or BLS for my Schengen visa in the UAE?
It depends on the country. France uses VFS Global Abu Dhabi for the whole UAE, Spain uses BLS, and Germany uses VFS Global in Dubai and Abu Dhabi. Italy uses VFS Global in Dubai for Dubai and Northern Emirates visas and BLS International in Abu Dhabi for Abu Dhabi visas.
How much is the Schengen visa fee from Dubai?
The European Commission lists β¬90 for adults and β¬45 for children aged 6 to 11. The visa centre may add its own service charge. Any agency fee is separate and should be quoted in writing.
Can an agency sell me a Schengen appointment?
No agency owns appointments to sell. VFS Global states that it does not sell visa appointments and that they are free of cost on its own website. An agency can prepare your file and help you use the official portal and waitlist.
What if there are no Schengen appointments for my dates?
Check whether your country runs a waitlist and register early. The German Missions, for example, offer slots to registered applicants in chronological order. You can apply up to 6 months before travel, so start early.
Can a Schengen visa agency guarantee approval?
No. The consulate decides every application, and VFS Global and BLS both say the same about their own role. Treat any promise of a guaranteed Schengen visa as a reason to walk away.
What happens if you cannot book my appointment in the agreed time?
If we agree in writing to book your appointment within a stated time frame and we do not secure it within that time, or the appointment is not made at all, we refund our service fee in full. The refund is tied to scheduling only. It never depends on the visa decision, which belongs to the embassy or consulate, and government and visa centre fees are paid to those bodies, not to us.
