The Philippines is a direct flight of around nine hours from Dubai and Abu Dhabi, and it is home to one of the largest communities in the UAE, so for many residents a trip there means visiting family, a partner or friends. For everyone else it is some of the best island travel in Asia: the limestone lagoons of El Nido and Coron in Palawan, the white sand of Boracay, the Chocolate Hills of Bohol, the surf at Siargao, and Manila and Cebu for business. Visa Doctor helps UAE residents who need a Philippine visa prepare and lodge it from our Dubai office, and the first thing we do is check whether you need one at all, because most nationalities do not.

Do UAE Residents Need a Philippines Visa?

Most visitors do not. The Philippines admits nationals of more than 150 countries without a visa for tourism and business, and whether you need a Philippines visa from Dubai is decided by your passport, not by your UAE residence visa. Holders of the 37 visa required passports, which include Pakistan, Bangladesh, Egypt and Sri Lanka, apply for a tourist or visit visa, and since October 2026 they can do it as an e-Visa from Dubai as well as from Abu Dhabi.

UAE nationals do not need a visa. Emirati passport holders are on the Philippine list of nationalities admitted visa free for up to 30 days. So are holders of British, US, Canadian, Australian and all European Union passports, along with most GCC, Asian, African and Latin American passports. You need a passport valid for at least six months beyond your stay and a return or onward ticket, and you register on eTravel before you fly.

Philippines Visa for Indian Nationals in the UAE

Indian nationals can now visit without a visa, with conditions. Since 8 June 2025, Indian passport holders may enter for tourism for up to 14 days with a confirmed hotel booking, proof of funds and an onward ticket. Those holding a valid visa or residence permit from the United States, Japan, Australia, Canada, a Schengen country, Singapore or the United Kingdom may stay up to 30 days. Neither stay can be extended or converted, so an Indian national planning a longer trip, or travelling for anything other than tourism, still applies for a visa.

Philippines Visa for Chinese Nationals

Chinese nationals have a 14 day visa free option for tourism and business since 16 January 2026, but only when arriving at Manila (NAIA) or Mactan-Cebu airport, with a hotel booking and an onward ticket. The arrangement was announced for one year.

Philippines Visa for Pakistani, Bangladeshi, Egyptian and Sri Lankan Nationals

Thirty seven nationalities still need a visa. The Philippine Consulate General in Dubai names Bangladesh, Egypt, Iran, Iraq, Lebanon, Palestine, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Sudan, Syria, Ukraine and Yemen among the visa required nationalities that apply in the UAE most often, and the full list is published on the official eVisaPH portal. If your passport is on it, you need a 9(a) temporary visitor visa, the Philippines tourist or visit visa, before you fly. There is no visa on arrival route for these nationalities on the official portal. As a UAE resident you can apply here instead of in your home country, and for most people that now means the e-Visa. That is the application we prepare.

A UAE residence visa does not exempt you. It is what allows you to apply in the UAE, and it is a core document in the file, but it does not replace the visa.

The Philippine e-Visa for UAE Residents

The Philippine Embassy in Abu Dhabi began issuing e-Visas to UAE residents in March 2025, the first Philippine mission in the Middle East to do so. On 26 October 2026 the Philippine Consulate General in Dubai followed, after a two week trial, so residents of Dubai and the Northern Emirates can now apply online as well.

What it covers. The e-Visa is a 9(a) temporary visitor visa for short stays: tourism, visiting family, business meetings, conferences, training, seminars and medical treatment. It is not available for work or study.

How it works. You create an account on the official portal, evisa.gov.ph, complete the application, upload scans of your documents and pay the fee online. The approved e-Visa is issued electronically, so there is no sticker in your passport and, in most cases, no visit to the Consulate. The Consulate has said that visa officers can still ask for original documents or call an applicant for an interview, for example where a name is commonly shared.

What it does not do. An e-Visa cannot be extended once you are in the Philippines and cannot be converted into another visa category. If you might need more time, or a different status, ask about the sticker visa instead, which the Consulate continues to issue alongside the e-Visa.

Single or multiple entry. A single entry visa is decided in the UAE. Multiple entry visas, valid for six months or one year, are approved in Manila, which is why they take longer.

Enter your names exactly as they appear in your passport. A spelling difference between the application, the passport and the flight booking is one of the commonest reasons for a delay.

Where to Apply: Philippine Consulate Dubai or Philippine Embassy Abu Dhabi

There are two Philippine missions in the UAE, and which one handles your visa depends on the emirate that issued your UAE residence visa. Most Philippine Consulate Dubai and Philippine Embassy Abu Dhabi visitors are Filipino citizens there for passports and other services, so visa applicants should follow the visa instructions specifically.

Philippine Consulate General in Dubai

For residence visas issued in Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman, Umm Al Quwain, Ras Al Khaimah and Fujairah. The Consulate is in Al Qusais. For a sticker visa, documents are submitted online for pre assessment first, and an appointment is given only once they have been evaluated. Since 26 October 2026 these applicants can also use the e-Visa.

Philippine Embassy in Abu Dhabi

For residence visas issued in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain. Applicants send their residence visa and proof of funds for pre assessment, then receive a link to lodge the application. The Embassy has issued e-Visas since March 2025.

Applications are handled by the Consulate and the Embassy themselves, through their own online systems. A confirmed airline ticket does not speed anything up, and the Consulate states that it is not responsible for flights missed by applicants who apply too close to their travel date.

Philippines Visa Requirements from Dubai

The core file is the same for the e-Visa and the sticker visa. Documents in Arabic need an English translation.

  • A completed application, online on the e-Visa portal, or the official form typed in capital letters for a sticker visa.
  • A recent photograph to the Consulate specification.
  • Your passport, machine readable and valid for at least six months beyond your stay. The Consulate in Dubai currently asks for more than a year of validity for e-Visa applicants, so renew first if yours is close.
  • Your UAE residence visa, valid for the whole trip, with an English translation if it is printed in Arabic.
  • A no objection letter from your employer or visa sponsor, with your position, length of employment and monthly salary, stamped by the company. Business owners and partners provide the trade licence instead.
  • Personal bank statements for the last three months, stamped by the bank, showing a balance of at least AED 5,000. The Embassy in Abu Dhabi asks for an average of AED 5,000 over the last six months, so prepare six if your visa was issued there.
  • A round trip flight reservation, not a purchased ticket.
  • A hotel booking, or an invitation letter from a Filipino relative or friend with a copy of their ID and their signature.
  • Your travel history for the last two years, and details of any previous Philippine visa.

Additional Documents for Specific Categories

  • Business visitors. A notarised invitation letter from the company or organisation in the Philippines, signed by an authorised signatory, with that signatory’s ID, and a guarantee letter from your own company.
  • Spouses and family of Filipino citizens. The marriage certificate or birth certificate that shows the relationship, and the Filipino family member’s passport or ID.
  • Sponsored dependants. A no objection letter from the residence visa sponsor, with the sponsor’s passport, residence visa and bank statements.
  • Children aged 17 and under. A no objection letter from the sponsor, both parents’ passports and residence visas, and the birth certificate. A child of 15 or under travelling without a parent needs a Waiver of Exclusion Ground, signed by the parents, before boarding.
  • Medical treatment. A letter from the hospital or doctor in the Philippines confirming the appointment or admission.

The Consulate and the Embassy can ask for any other document they consider necessary. We prepare the file to the current list for your emirate and your nationality, and we check it against your passport and your bookings before it goes in.

How to Get a Philippines Visa from Dubai (Step-by-Step)

1. Check whether you need a visa at all. Send us your passport data page and your UAE residence visa. If you are visa free, including the Indian and Chinese options, we tell you what to carry and there is nothing to apply for.

2. Choose single or multiple entry and fix your dates. A single entry e-Visa is the quickest. A multiple entry visa suits regular family visits and business travel, but it is approved in Manila and takes weeks, not days.

3. Collect the employer letter and bank statements early. The no objection letter depends on somebody else’s HR department, and the statements have to show the right months and the right balance.

4. We prepare the file. Application, flight reservation, hotel booking or invitation, the letter and the category documents that apply to you, all consistent with each other and with your passport.

5. Lodge the application. For an e-Visa we help you submit it through evisa.gov.ph. For a sticker visa we prepare the pre assessment and the appointment with the Consulate in Dubai or the Embassy in Abu Dhabi.

6. Answer any request quickly. If the visa officer asks for an original document or an interview, we prepare you for it so the application is not held up.

7. Receive the visa, then book. Only pay for flights you cannot change once the visa has been issued. Within 72 hours before you fly, complete your eTravel registration.

eTravel Philippines and Arriving at the Airport

eTravel is required for everyone. Every traveller arriving in the Philippines, Filipino or foreign, visa holder or visa free, registers on the official eTravel system at etravel.gov.ph within 72 hours before arrival. It is free, so use only the official site.

A visa is not a guarantee of entry. The Bureau of Immigration decides admission at the airport, and the officer can ask about your plans, your accommodation and your return. Carry printed copies of your hotel booking, your return ticket and, if you are visiting family, their address and contact details.

Do not overstay. An e-Visa and the visa free stays for Indian and Chinese nationals cannot be extended in the Philippines. Leave on or before the last permitted day.

Philippines Visa Processing Time from the UAE

At its launch on 26 October 2026, the Philippine Consulate General in Dubai gave estimates of 7 to 12 working days for a single entry visa and 15 to 40 working days for a multiple entry visa, because multiple entry visas are approved in Manila. The Philippine Embassy in Abu Dhabi advises at least three weeks for single entry and one month for multiple entry, and asks applicants to apply at least a month before they travel. Both missions say the time depends on your nationality and the type of visa.

In practice that means coming to us four to six weeks before a holiday, and earlier for a wedding, a family occasion or a business trip with a fixed date. The weeks before Eid, the summer break and Christmas, when many families travel to Manila and Cebu, are the busiest.

Why Choose Visa Doctor for Your Philippines Visa?

  • We tell you if you do not need us. Most passports are visa free for the Philippines. If yours is, we will say so instead of selling you an application.
  • Dubai based and licensed. You can walk into our office, and you deal with the same people from the first question to the day you fly.
  • We know the e-Visa and the sticker route. We will tell you which suits your trip, including when the e-Visa’s no extension rule makes the sticker visa the better choice.
  • We know where Philippine applications get delayed: names that do not match the passport, bank statements below the balance, a passport too close to expiry, and an employer letter that leaves out the salary.
  • We keep you informed at every stage, from the first document check to the decision.
  • No promises about the outcome. The decision belongs to the Philippine Consulate or Embassy, and entry is decided by the Bureau of Immigration. What we control is that your file is complete, consistent and lodged in time.

Frequently Asked Questions, Philippines Visa from Dubai

Do UAE residents need a visa for the Philippines?

It depends on your passport, not your residence. Nationals of more than 150 countries, including UAE, British, US, European Union and most GCC passports, are admitted without a visa for up to 30 days. Nationals of the 37 visa required countries, such as Pakistan, Bangladesh, Egypt and Sri Lanka, need a visa, and as UAE residents they can apply in the UAE.

Can I get a Philippine e-Visa in Dubai?

Yes. Since 26 October 2026 the Philippine Consulate General in Dubai issues e-Visas to eligible foreign residents of Dubai and the Northern Emirates, and the Philippine Embassy in Abu Dhabi has issued them since March 2025. You apply online at evisa.gov.ph and the visa is issued electronically, with no sticker in the passport.

How much is a Philippine visa from the UAE?

The government fee is AED 260 for a single entry visa. The Consulate in Dubai announced AED 420 for a six month multiple entry visa and AED 580 for a one year multiple entry visa. These fees are set by the Philippine government and paid to the Consulate or the Embassy.

How long does a Philippine visa take from Dubai?

The Consulate in Dubai estimates 7 to 12 working days for a single entry visa and 15 to 40 working days for a multiple entry visa, which is approved in Manila. The Embassy in Abu Dhabi advises applying at least a month before you travel.

Do Indian nationals in the UAE need a Philippine visa?

Not for a short holiday. Since June 2025 Indian nationals can visit for tourism for up to 14 days without a visa, or up to 30 days if they hold a valid US, Japanese, Australian, Canadian, Schengen, Singapore or UK visa or residence permit. A longer stay, or a trip for business or another purpose, needs a visa.

Do Pakistani nationals in the UAE need a Philippines visa?

Yes. Pakistan is one of the 37 visa required nationalities, so Pakistani passport holders need a 9(a) temporary visitor visa before they travel. As UAE residents they can apply in the UAE, through the Philippine Consulate General in Dubai or the Philippine Embassy in Abu Dhabi depending on the emirate of their residence visa, and both now offer the e-Visa.

Is there a Philippines visa on arrival?

Not for visa required nationalities. Nationals of visa free countries, including UAE citizens, are simply admitted for up to 30 days on arrival with a valid passport and an onward ticket. Everyone else must hold a visa before boarding, and airlines check this at departure.

Can I extend a Philippine e-Visa?

No. The e-Visa cannot be extended or converted into another type of visa once you are in the Philippines. If you might need longer, ask about a sticker visa before you apply.

How much money do I need in my bank account?

The Consulate in Dubai asks for three months of bank statements with a balance of at least AED 5,000. The Embassy in Abu Dhabi asks for an average balance of at least AED 5,000 over the last six months.

Which office handles my application, Dubai or Abu Dhabi?

It follows the emirate that issued your residence visa. Residents of Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman, Umm Al Quwain, Ras Al Khaimah and Fujairah apply through the Philippine Consulate General in Dubai. Residents of Abu Dhabi and Al Ain apply through the Philippine Embassy in Abu Dhabi.

What is eTravel and do I need it?

eTravel is the free online arrival registration that every traveller to the Philippines completes within 72 hours before arrival, at etravel.gov.ph. It is separate from the visa, and visa free travellers need it too.

Can Visa Doctor guarantee my Philippine visa?

No, and nobody outside the Philippine government can. The visa decision belongs to the Philippine Consulate or Embassy, and admission at the airport is decided by the Bureau of Immigration. What we control is that your application is complete, consistent and lodged in time.

I applied for shengen visa in April 2026. Working with Barlas was a big pleasure and absence of any issues or problems. He prepared all documents and answered millions of my questions. He recommended me Swiss embassy instead of Italy showing that he has a deep understanding of the situation now. Got my visa in 2 weeks, unfortunately for 1 entry only but it’s something the company can’t influence. Fully recommend
