Grenada citizenship by investment from Dubai
Citizenship from $244,000 with Schengen visa free access.Check the presence rule and the 2028 risk.
Grenada offers citizenship from a $235,000 National Transformation Fund contribution that covers a main applicant and family of up to four. A 30 day presence rule is deferred and the EU wants the route closed by 1 June 2028, so we explain both before you decide.
- Official cost of $244,000 for one adult: a $235,000 contribution plus $9,000 in government fees
- Open for applications, with agents quoting 6 to 9 months
- We never promise approval or future visa free access, which belong to the governments involved
Two things can change what this passport is worth: a deferred 30 day presence rule and the EU 2028 deadline.
Grenada deferred its presence rule on 21 August 2026 with no new start date, and the EU asked for the route to close by 1 June 2028. We give our fee in writing before you pay anything.
Short stays of up to 90 days in any 180 day period. This is the access the EU has said it may suspend for investor citizenship countries, see the 2028 warning below.
Citizens need an Electronic Travel Authorisation before travelling. It is an online application, not a visa.
Grenada is not in the Visa Waiver Program, so ESTA is not available. Grenada has a US E-2 investor treaty, but E-2 needs a separate qualifying business investment and approval.
Visa free travel across most Caribbean countries.

The 30 Day Presence Rule That Was Deferred
Grenada announced that new citizens would have to spend time in the country: 30 days in total per family within the first five years, 5 days for each dependant in the first 12 months, and a mandatory integration programme.
On 21 August 2026 the government deferred the rule through Circular No. 2 of 2026. No start date has been given, and an independent review was commissioned on 22 September 2026. The rule may still apply to applications that are pending when it starts, so we do not promise a no presence outcome. If you need a passport with no travel to the country at all, ask us about the current status before you commit.
The EU 2028 Warning You Should Know About
The European Union asked Antigua and Barbuda, Dominica, Grenada, St Kitts and Nevis and Saint Lucia to close their investor citizenship programmes by 1 June 2028. If a country does not comply, the EU can use its visa suspension mechanism and end visa free Schengen access for that country passport holders.
Vanuatu is the precedent. Its citizens kept their passports, but the EU suspended their visa free entry to the Schengen Area in 2024. The same outcome is possible for Grenada. Citizenship that has already been granted would not be removed, but Schengen visa free access could be.
Nobody can promise what will happen. If Schengen access is essential to you, compare the Argentina guide, because Argentina has no EU deadline.
How the Application Works
- Eligibility check. We confirm you can pass the government background checks and gather identity, police and financial documents.
- Filing through an authorised agent. Grenada accepts applications only through agents authorised by its government. We prepare and manage your file and the application is filed through an authorised agent.
- Government background checks. The Citizenship by Investment Committee checks every applicant and family member.
- Approval and payment. The contribution is paid after approval in principle.
- Passport. Once approved, you apply for the passport. Agents quote 6 to 9 months from filing.

- Visa Doctor service fee
- Published in writing before we take any payment
These figures come from the official IMA Grenada fee table, which lists no separate passport fee. We confirm the full fee table with the authorised agent before filing.
Is the Money Refundable?
- Contribution route: the National Transformation Fund payment is a one time contribution to the government. No refund route is published, so treat it as spent.
- Real estate route: agents report a minimum of about $270,000 in approved property held for five years, then resold. The government fee table lists $270,000 beside $350,000 without explaining the split, so your authorised agent must confirm the current amount and holding period. Resale value is not guaranteed.
- Fees: application, due diligence, processing and interview fees are not refundable.
Official terms can change, and fees are not refundable. Confirm the current rules on the government site before you pay anything.
What the Passport Gives
- Schengen Area: visa free for up to 90 days in any 180 days, for now.
- United Kingdom: an online ETA is required before travel.
- United States: a visa is required and there is no ESTA. The E-2 treaty is a possible extra route for investors, but it needs a separate business investment and is not guaranteed.
- Caribbean: visa free travel across most Caribbean countries.
- Dual citizenship: permitted by Grenada. Check your home country rules.
Risks to Weigh Before You Decide
- EU 2028 deadline: Schengen visa free access could be suspended after 1 June 2028.
- Presence rule: the deferred 30 day rule could start later and may apply to pending applications.
- Policy review: an independent review of the programme is under way and its outcome is unknown.
- US access: a visitor visa is still required and E-2 is not automatic.
- Background checks: applications can be refused and no outcome is guaranteed.

Frequently Asked Questions
How much does Grenada citizenship by investment cost?
The National Transformation Fund contribution is $235,000 for an individual applicant or a family of up to four. Government fees are paid per person: application $1,500, background check $5,000 (nil for dependent children aged 0 to 16), processing $1,500 for ages 17 and over or $500 under 17, and interview $1,000 for ages 17 and over. One adult pays $244,000 in total, and a couple with two children under 17 pays about $257,000. Visa Doctor publishes its own fee in writing before taking any payment.
Does a Grenada passport give visa free access to the Schengen Area?
Yes. Citizens can currently enter the Schengen Area without a visa for up to 90 days in any 180 day period. The EU has asked Grenada to close its investor citizenship route by 1 June 2028 and could suspend this access if it does not.
Do I have to spend 30 days in Grenada?
Grenada announced a 30 day presence rule, then deferred it on 21 August 2026 through Circular No. 2 of 2026, with no new start date. An independent review was commissioned on 22 September 2026. The rule may still apply to applications that are pending when it starts, so we do not promise a no presence outcome.
How long does the application take?
Agents quote 6 to 9 months. Confirm timing against current government statements before you plan around it.
Does Grenada citizenship give me access to the US through an E-2 visa?
Grenada has an E-2 investor treaty with the United States, which agents often promote. E-2 still needs a qualifying business investment and US approval, so citizenship alone does not give US access. Treat it as an extra option to test, not a feature we sell.
Can the EU take my citizenship away?
No. The EU can suspend visa free access for a country passport holders, but it cannot cancel citizenship granted by another state. In the Vanuatu case, citizens kept their passports but lost visa free Schengen entry in 2024.
How does Grenada compare with St Kitts and Nevis and Argentina?
Grenada costs slightly less than St Kitts and Nevis and has a US E-2 treaty, but a deferred presence rule hangs over it. St Kitts and Nevis has no confirmed presence rule today. Both share the EU 2028 risk. Argentina does not, but its applications are not open yet.
Is Visa Doctor licensed to handle citizenship by investment applications?
Visa Doctor FZC holds a UAE trade licence (4417571.01) that covers immigration services. We are not a government authorised agent for any programme. Grenada accepts applications only through agents authorised by its government, so we prepare and manage your file and the application is filed through an authorised agent. We give our fee in writing before you pay anything.
