Nepali professionals, families and business owners across Dubai, Sharjah, Abu Dhabi and the Northern Emirates regularly ask us about visiting the UK. Whether it is a family visit, a holiday, a conference or a graduation, the route is the same, but the details of how a Nepali passport holder resident in the UAE should build the file are not obvious. This guide covers the process, the documents and the mistakes that lead to refusals.
Yes. Nepal is a visa-required nationality for the UK, and living in the UAE does not change that. The UK expects you to apply from the country where you are lawfully resident, so UAE residents apply in the UAE. The category for tourism, family visits and short business trips is the Standard Visitor visa, which usually allows stays of up to six months per visit. You cannot work, study or live in the UK on it.
The UK also changed some visitor rules in October 2026, so read our guide to the 8 October 2026 changes before you submit.
| Document | Why it matters | Tip for Nepali residents in the UAE |
|---|---|---|
| Passport and old passports | Shows identity and travel history | Include previous passports with stamps |
| UAE residence visa and Emirates ID | Proves lawful residence and your base | Make sure both are valid for the whole trip |
| Employment letter and NOC | Shows job, salary and approved leave | Employer letter should name the leave dates; see our guide on employment letters |
| Bank statements | Shows funds for the trip and income pattern | Salary credits should match the letter; avoid sudden large deposits |
| Itinerary and accommodation | Shows a genuine, limited visit | Use real, refundable bookings where you can |
| Family and property ties | Shows reasons to return | Include evidence of family in the UAE or Nepal |
Our detailed guide to UK visa bank statement requirements from Dubai covers what period and balance patterns caseworkers look at. If a relative in the UK or UAE is helping to pay, prepare a proper sponsor letter, and use the document checklist generator to confirm nothing is missing.
Most visitor refusals are about credibility rather than paperwork alone. The caseworker is deciding whether you will leave the UK at the end of the visit and whether you can afford the trip without working. Typical problems include a salary that does not match the bank statements, a recent job change with no explanation, a vague purpose of visit, undeclared previous refusals, and documents that are not originals or are inconsistent. Our article on why UK visit visas are refused and how to reapply goes through the typical wording of refusal letters. If you have been refused before, read reapplying after a refusal first, because repeating an application without fixing the problem rarely works.
Many Nepali residents combine the UK with a European holiday. Schengen and UK are separate visas with separate rules, and a refusal on one can be asked about on the other. Our Nepali citizens Schengen visa guide covers the European side. If you are also thinking about the United States, note that rules differ by nationality, as discussed in our US visa guide for Bangladeshi citizens. Neighbouring nationalities have similar questions, for example Bangladeshi citizens UK visa from the UAE and Filipino citizens UK visa from the UAE.

Need help with your application?
Tell us your destination and travel date. We will tell you honestly what is realistic.
Your first consultation is free. Tell us your situation and we will tell you honestly where you stand before you pay anything.
You apply online on the UK government website and attend a biometrics appointment at the UK visa application centre in Dubai or Abu Dhabi.
Applications made outside the UK are normally quoted at around three weeks from the biometrics appointment, but timelines vary, so apply well before your travel date.
There is no fixed official minimum. Caseworkers look at whether your funds cover the trip and match your income. Consistency matters more than one large figure.
Yes, but a recent job or residence change needs clear explanation and evidence, since the caseworker must be satisfied about your ties and finances.
You must declare it. Address the reasons in the refusal letter honestly and show what has changed before you reapply.
