Whether you are applying for a Canada visitor visa (also called a visit visa or tourist visa) from Dubai or Abu Dhabi, the process is the same for all UAE residents. Canada calls it a visitor visa, or temporary resident visa (TRV). Visa Doctor prepares and reviews your IRCC application and helps you book biometrics in Dubai or Abu Dhabi. The decision belongs to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).
Canada visa from the UAE in one line: apply online to IRCC, pay CAD 100 plus CAD 85 for biometrics, give fingerprints and a photo at VFS Global in Dubai or Abu Dhabi, and allow about 56 days, the official figure for visitor visas applied for from the UAE on 22 September 2026. UAE citizens do not need a visitor visa; they need an eTA (CAD 7).

To apply for a Canada visit visa from Dubai or Abu Dhabi, you apply online with IRCC, pay CAD 100 for the visa and CAD 85 for biometrics, then give your fingerprints and photo at the VFS Global Canada visa application centre in Dubai or Abu Dhabi. If IRCC approves your application, it asks for your passport so it can place the visa inside. IRCC’s official processing time for visitor visas applied for from the UAE was 56 days at its 22 September 2026 update.
IRCC decides each application. To qualify, you must have a valid passport, be in good health and have no criminal or immigration-related convictions. You must also convince an immigration officer that you have ties, such as a job, home, financial assets or family, that will take you back to your home country, that you will leave Canada at the end of your visit, and that you have enough money for your stay. Some applicants also need a medical exam or a letter of invitation from someone who lives in Canada. Our Canada visa documents and financial requirements guide explains how UAE residents show this.
A Canada visitor visa can be valid for up to 10 years, or until your passport or biometrics expire, whichever comes first. The visa officer decides whether to issue a single-entry or multiple-entry visa and how long it is valid for. Most visitors can stay in Canada for up to 6 months per visit. The border services officer can set a different date, which they mark with a stamp in your passport or a visitor record.
The official cost of a Canada visit visa from Dubai or Abu Dhabi is CAD 185 per person: CAD 100 for the visitor visa and CAD 85 for biometrics. You pay IRCC online in Canadian dollars when you apply.
Optional services at the visa application centre, such as courier return of your passport, are charged separately by VFS Global.
To apply for a Canada visitor visa, the following documents are generally required:
IRCC refusal letters usually point to one or more of the same few concerns. A file built to answer them in advance is the best protection.
You can apply again with better evidence. Our Canada visa documents and financial requirements guide shows what UAE residents usually submit, and the Canada processing time and biometrics guide explains each stage. Pakistani nationals can also read Canada visitor visa for Pakistani citizens in the UAE.
Apply online through the IRCC Portal or your IRCC secure account, pay CAD 100 for the visitor visa and CAD 85 for biometrics, then give your fingerprints and photo at the VFS Global centre in Dubai or Abu Dhabi after IRCC sends your biometric instruction letter. If IRCC approves the application, it asks for your passport to place the visa inside.
IRCC’s official processing time for a visitor visa applied for from the UAE was 56 days at its 22 September 2026 update, and that figure includes giving biometrics. It does not include sending your passport after approval. See our Canada visit visa processing time guide.
The official Canada visit visa fee from Dubai is CAD 100 per person, plus CAD 85 for biometrics, so CAD 185 in total. The cost is the same for a Canada visit visa from Abu Dhabi, because every UAE applicant pays IRCC online in Canadian dollars. A family of five or more pays one visa fee of CAD 500.
At the VFS Global Canada visa application centres at Wafi Mall in Dubai or The Mall, World Trade Centre in Abu Dhabi. You book after IRCC sends your biometric instruction letter, and you have 30 days from the letter to attend. Biometrics are valid for 10 years, so you may not need to give them again.
You cannot choose the length yourself. A Canada visitor visa can be valid for up to 10 years, or until your passport or biometrics expire, whichever comes first. The visa officer decides whether you get a single-entry or multiple-entry visa and how long it lasts.
Ready to Apply for Your Canada Visa from Dubai?
No. UAE citizens do not need a Canada visitor visa. To fly to Canada they need an eTA, which costs CAD 7 and is applied for online. UAE residents of other nationalities may need a visitor visa, depending on their passport.
You need a valid passport and must show IRCC that you have ties to your home country, such as a job, home, financial assets or family, and enough money for your stay. You must be in good health, have no criminal or immigration-related convictions and convince the officer you will leave Canada after your visit.
Yes. UAE residents attending meetings, conferences, or short business activities in Canada apply for a visitor visa for business purposes, usually with an invitation letter from the Canadian host company or organiser.
Most refusals cite ties to your country of residence, your finances, the purpose of your visit or limited travel history. The refusal letter lists the reasons. You can apply again with stronger evidence that answers them.
IRCC decides every application, and no agency can influence that decision. Your file needs to show ties to the UAE or your home country, enough money for your stay, and a clear reason for your trip. Visa Doctor reviews your documents so they present that clearly.
