US B1/B2 and student visas from Dubai

Do not want to wait a year for your USA slot? Get it in 7 working days.

The official calendar shows about 11.5 months for a US visa interview in Dubai. We take that wait down to about 7 working days: we watch every appointment release, book the earliest confirmed date we can reach, and prepare your DS-160 and supporting file so the slot is not wasted.

  • Your appointment timeframe is agreed with you in writing
  • If we do not secure it in that time, we refund our service fee
  • We never promise the visa decision, which belongs to the consular officer

Armenia is not on the Presidential Proclamation 10998 list. Under the State Department’s reciprocity schedule an Armenian passport can carry a multiple-entry B1/B2 visa of up to 120 months, the longest available, with no reciprocity fee.

Yerevan or the UAE

The US Embassy in Yerevan and the US Embassy in the UAE give the same instruction: book your nonimmigrant visa interview at a US embassy or consulate in your country of residence or nationality.

Many Armenians in Dubai travel home often, so Yerevan is a sensible alternative if a planned visit covers the interview, any request for more documents, and the return of your passport. Otherwise, UAE residents can simply book in Dubai or Abu Dhabi.

Presidential Proclamation 10998: is Armenia on the list?

No. Proclamation 10998, published in the Federal Register on 19 December 2025 (90 FR 59717) and in force since 1 January 2026, suspends or limits visa issuance for nationals of 39 countries. We checked the proclamation text and the State Department’s implementation notice on 24 September 2026, and Armenia is not named. Iran, Armenia’s neighbour, is under full suspension, but that has no effect on Armenian passport holders, including those who have travelled to Iran.

The application fee is $185, non-refundable and non-transferable. The 120-month figure is the ceiling; the officer can issue a shorter visa, and each stay is set at the US border. Armenia is not in the Visa Waiver Program, so ESTA is not available.

Step by step: an Armenian UAE resident applying in Yerevan

  1. Check the Yerevan wait on the State Department’s wait-time tool; it is an estimate, not a promise of a slot.
  2. Complete the DS-160, choosing Yerevan and listing your UAE address, employer and residence. Our DS-160 guide walks through the form.
  3. Pay the $185 fee and book through the appointment system linked from the US Embassy in Armenia’s visas page.
  4. Time your trip home so you are in Armenia for the interview and the passport return.
  5. Attend the interview with your passport, confirmation page and supporting file.
  6. After the interview, a 221(g) letter means more information is needed; a 214(b) refusal means a new application and fee.

Documents that support an Armenian application

  • Armenian passport valid at least six months beyond the stay, and old passports with visas and stamps.
  • DS-160 confirmation page and fee receipt, with your name exactly as in the passport.
  • UAE residence visa and Emirates ID.
  • Employer letter with position, salary, start date and approved leave, or trade licence for business owners.
  • Bank statements are not required. If you bring some, about six months of UAE statements that match your income can help if the officer asks.
  • Family evidence: spouse and children’s residence visas, school letters, tenancy contract.
  • Purpose documents: itinerary, event registration, or an invitation from relatives in the US with their status.
  • English translations of Armenian or Russian documents; see our translation guide.

Relatives in the US are common in Armenian families. The State Department says an invitation letter or affidavit of support is not needed for a visitor visa, but if you mention relatives, be ready to explain who they are, their status and how often you have visited. See our interview preparation guide.

Common refusal reasons

The State Department’s visa denials page lists the grounds officers apply. For Armenian applicants:

  • 214(b): the officer is not persuaded you will return. Close family in the US combined with a thin UAE record is a frequent pattern, so make the UAE evidence strong.
  • 221(g): missing information or administrative processing, with one year to respond before a new application and fee.
  • 212(a)(6)(C)(i): misrepresentation, such as undisclosed refusals or relatives. Answer the DS-160 family questions fully.

Our explainer on 214(b) refusals covers what to change before reapplying.

Combining the US with Europe

Armenian citizens also pay a reduced Schengen visa fee. The European Commission lists €35 for applicants from Armenia, Azerbaijan and Belarus, compared with €90 for most other nationalities. The Schengen application is separate from the US one and is made at the visa centre of your main European destination, up to 6 months before travel. Our Schengen rules by nationality explain the UAE process.

How Visa Doctor helps

We prepare B1/B2, F1 and F2 applications for Armenian citizens living in the UAE, including interviews in Yerevan. We complete the DS-160 with you, organise translations and a consistent file, and rehearse the interview. We cannot create appointments or shorten official queues, and the consular officer decides every application. Our US visa service page sets out what we cover.

Call +971 58 509 5268 or message us on WhatsApp. Our office is Office 311, Stadium Point, Dubai Sports City, open Monday to Friday, 09:00 to 20:00.

Frequently asked questions

Do Armenians need a visa for the USA?

Yes. Armenia is not a Visa Waiver Program country, so Armenian citizens need a visa to visit, study or connect through the US.

Can I apply in Dubai with an Armenian passport?

Yes. Armenians living in the UAE can apply at the US Embassy in Abu Dhabi or the Consulate General in Dubai as UAE residents. Applying in Yerevan is an alternative. The interview waiver (dropbox) is not available to most applicants at present, so most need an interview.

Is Armenia on the 2026 US travel ban list?

No. Armenia is not named in Presidential Proclamation 10998.

How long is a US visa for Armenian citizens?

Up to 120 months with multiple entries for B1/B2, and up to 60 months for F-1, under the reciprocity schedule.

Do I need an invitation letter?

No. The State Department says an invitation letter or affidavit of support is not needed to apply for a visitor visa, although you can bring one.

Is there a reciprocity fee for Armenians?

No reciprocity fee is listed for B1/B2, C-1 or F-1. The $185 application fee applies.
