UK Visa for Kazakhstan Citizens from the UAE (2026)

Citizens of Kazakhstan need a visa to visit the United Kingdom, and those living in the UAE can apply here: online on GOV.UK, then fingerprints and a photo at a UK visa application centre in the UAE. Kazakhstan is on the UK visa national list, so the ETA does not apply. A Standard Visitor visa costs £135 for up to 6 months, and GOV.UK says most decisions arrive within about 3 weeks.

What the rules say for Kazakhstani passports

The UK Immigration Rules list Kazakhstan among the nationalities that need entry clearance before travelling for a visit or any other stay of under six months. In practice that means a visitor visa for tourism, family visits, business meetings or a short course, and a separate visa route for study or work.

Kazakhstan appears on two other UK lists that matter for students rather than visitors. It is on the Student route’s differential evidence list, which means Kazakhstani students do not have to submit financial evidence with a Student visa application, although UK Visas and Immigration may still ask for it. It is also on the UK list of countries where a tuberculosis test may be needed. GOV.UK says the test applies if you are coming to the UK for 6 months or more, have lived in a listed country for 6 months or more, and were living there within the last 6 months. A Kazakhstani who has lived in the UAE for the last 6 months, or who is visiting for less than 6 months, does not need one. Our UK Student visa guide covers the study route.

Visa choices and official fees

Frequent travellers often ask for the long-term visa straight away. GOV.UK says the Home Office may refuse a long-term application if it is not satisfied you will meet the rules for the whole period, and there is no refund if you are given a shorter visa. A strong travel record makes the longer visa more realistic.

Step by step: applying from the UAE

1. Apply online on GOV.UK, no earlier than 3 months before travel, with your UAE address and residence details.
2. Choose the visa length carefully, because the fee is not refunded if a shorter visa is issued.
3. Pay the fee and any optional priority service, where offered.
4. Book biometrics at a UK visa application centre in the UAE.
5. Prepare translations of any Kazakh or Russian documents, each with the translator’s details.
6. Attend the appointment and keep your passport, which GOV.UK says is returned the same day. Approved applicants receive an eVisa; our eVisa explainer shows how to set up the UKVI account.

Documents for Kazakhstani residents of the UAE

The Home Office asks visitors to show they are genuine, will leave at the end of the visit and can pay for it. Its guide to supporting documents also asks applicants who are not nationals of the country where they apply to confirm their legal residence there.

• Kazakhstani passport valid for the whole stay, plus previous passports showing travel.
• UAE residence visa and Emirates ID.
• Employer letter on headed paper with your role, salary and length of employment.
• For business owners, the UAE trade licence and recent invoices.
• Bank statements that show where the money came from, issued within the last year.
• If a UK host or relative pays, evidence of their funds, your relationship and their UK status.
• English translations of Kazakh or Russian documents, each with the translator’s confirmation, date, full name, signature and contact details.

Common refusal reasons, from the Immigration Rules

Paragraph V 4.2 of Appendix V: Visitor says the applicant must show they are a genuine visitor who will leave at the end of the visit, will not live in the UK through frequent or successive visits, is visiting for a permitted purpose, will not work or do other prohibited activities, and has enough funds held in a permitted financial institution. The refusals we see most often from Kazakhstani applicants in the UAE follow from those tests:

• Funds that cannot be traced, such as a large deposit shortly before applying or money moved from Kazakhstan without a paper trail.
• A thin UAE record, for example a recent move with no employment letter or tenancy.
• A purpose that reads like work, such as hands-on project work described as a business meeting.
• Undeclared previous refusals, which can bring a refusal under Part Suitability.

Spelling and name consistency

Kazakh names often appear in several Latin forms across old passports, UAE documents and bank records. Use the spelling in your current passport throughout the form and explain any differences in a short covering note. Our name mismatch guide covers how.
