US B1/B2 and student visas from Dubai
The official calendar shows about 11.5 months for a US visa interview in Dubai. We take that wait down to about 7 working days: we watch every appointment release, book the earliest confirmed date we can reach, and prepare your DS-160 and supporting file so the slot is not wasted.
US visitor and student visas from Dubai and Abu Dhabi: B1, B2, F1 and F2.
The US Department of State publishes the next available B1/B2 interview at about 11.5 months in Dubai and 12.5 months in Abu Dhabi (updated 17 September 2026). B1/B2 and student visa appointments are available in Dubai and Abu Dhabi. You can also apply in your home country. New interview appointments are released on Friday mornings between 7:30 and 11:30, and occasionally outside that window. We watch those releases, book the earliest confirmed date we can reach, and we prepare the DS-160 and the supporting file so the slot is not wasted. We also handle ESTA travel authorisation, which is not a visa. We do not handle work, immigrant or transit categories. If we do not secure your appointment in the time we agree in writing, we refund our service fee. The visa decision belongs to the consular officer.

| Question | Answer for Indian passport holders (checked 25 September 2026) |
|---|---|
| Do Indians need a US visa? | Yes. India is not in the Visa Waiver Program, so ESTA is not an option. You need a B1/B2 visitor visa. |
| Can I apply from Dubai? | Yes, as a UAE resident. The US Mission tells applicants to book in their country of residence or nationality, so the UAE and India are both allowed. |
| Is the US Consulate in Dubai processing visas? | B1/B2 and student visa appointments are available in Dubai and Abu Dhabi. |
| Fee | USD 185 for B1/B2, non-refundable |
| Maximum validity for Indians | Up to 120 months (10 years), multiple entry, under US reciprocity rules; the officer decides what to issue |
| Wait in the UAE | About 11.5 months in Dubai and 12.5 months in Abu Dhabi for B1/B2 |
| Wait in India | From about 6.5 months (Kolkata) to 12 months (Hyderabad) for B1/B2 |
The B1/B2 is the standard US visitor visa: B1 covers business meetings and conferences, B2 covers tourism and visiting family. They are usually issued together. Because India is not a Visa Waiver country, the electronic ESTA does not apply, and you need the visa itself, which involves an interview at a US mission. Even a connecting flight through a US airport needs a visa for Indian passport holders, as our US transit visa guide explains.
The US Mission in the UAE tells nonimmigrant applicants to book in their country of residence or nationality. An Indian resident of the UAE can therefore choose between the two UAE posts and the five posts in India. These are the official next available B1/B2 interview dates published by the US Department of State:
| US post | Next available B1/B2 interview (17 September 2026) |
|---|---|
| Dubai (UAE) | 11.5 months |
| Abu Dhabi (UAE) | 12.5 months |
| Chennai | 7.5 months |
| Hyderabad | 12 months |
| Kolkata | 6.5 months |
| Mumbai | 11.5 months |
| New Delhi | 10 months |
These figures move every month. Applying in India means travelling there for the interview and waiting there if the officer issues a 221(g). The USD 185 fee is not transferable between countries, so decide before you pay. For the UAE figures over time, see our US visa appointment wait time tracker.
The B1/B2 interview is short. The officer is assessing one core question under section 214(b) of US law: are you a genuine visitor who will return? Answer honestly and concisely, show clear ties such as a stable UAE job, family and finances, and be consistent with your DS-160. Our interview preparation guide covers the common questions.
A 221(g) is not a final refusal: the application is on hold pending more documents or administrative processing. A 214(b) refusal means the officer was not convinced of your ties; you can reapply with stronger evidence, and you should be ready to explain what has changed.
If your B1/B2 expired within the last 12 months and meets the other conditions, you may qualify for renewal without an interview in the UAE or in India. Otherwise you need a full interview. See our US visa renewal in Dubai page.
We prepare Indian residents of the UAE for the US B1/B2 process: DS-160 completion, fee and appointment booking, document review, interview preparation and a business cover letter where needed. We help you compare the UAE and India options honestly before you pay the fee. The decision belongs to the consular officer.
Yes. Indian passport holders need a US B1/B2 visitor visa for tourism, family visits and business trips. India is not part of the Visa Waiver Program, so ESTA is not available.
Yes, if you are a legal UAE resident. You can book at the US Consulate General in Dubai or the US Embassy in Abu Dhabi.B1/B2 and student visa appointments are available in Dubai and Abu Dhabi.
Sometimes. On 17 September 2026 the next available B1/B2 interview was about 6.5 months in Kolkata and 7.5 months in Chennai, against 11.5 months in Dubai and 12.5 months in Abu Dhabi. Mumbai, Hyderabad and New Delhi were closer to the UAE figures. You must travel to India for the interview.
No. ESTA is only for Visa Waiver Program nationalities. Indian passport holders must obtain a B1/B2 visitor visa.
Under US reciprocity rules, B1/B2 visas for Indian nationals can be issued for up to 120 months with multiple entries. The officer decides the actual validity, and the border officer decides how long each stay can be.
Only if you meet the interview waiver rules: renewing a full validity B1/B2 within 12 months of expiry, issued when you were 18 or older, applying in your country of nationality or residence, and no refusal since. See our US visa dropbox guide.
It is a temporary hold, not a rejection. The consulate needs more documents or time. You provide what is requested and processing continues.
Yes. An Indian national with an ordinary passport and a US visa or green card valid for at least six months can get a UAE visa on arrival, but that is a UAE rule and has nothing to do with applying for the US visa itself. See can I enter the UAE with a US visa.
As early as possible. The published B1/B2 waits in both the UAE and India run to many months, so start once your travel plan is firm and keep checking for earlier dates.
