Which consulate? Get this right first

You cannot pick the embassy with the shortest queue. The rule is: apply to the country where you will spend the most nights. If nights are split evenly across countries, apply to your country of first entry. Money: what consulates actually look for

There is no universal minimum balance, but each consulate expects you to cover roughly EUR 50 to 100 per day of your trip, plus flights and hotels already paid. What matters more than the number is the pattern: salary landing every month, a balance that grew steadily, no sudden lump sum deposited a week before applying.
