Filipinos are one of the largest communities in the UAE, and Europe is a growing destination — for personal holidays, for visiting relatives working in Italy, Spain or Germany, and for domestic staff accompanying UAE families. Each of these needs a slightly different file. Here is the 2026 guide.

The visa and the rules

You need a Schengen Type C short-stay visa, permitting up to 90 days in any 180-day period across the Schengen area. Apply to the consulate of your main destination — the country where you will spend the most nights — or your country of first entry if the split is even. Plan your days with the 90/180 calculator.

Documents for Filipino applicants in the UAE

• Philippine passport, valid 3+ months beyond return, issued within 10 years, 2 blank pages.
• UAE residence visa and Emirates ID, valid ideally ~3 months past your return.
• Application form and compliant photo (check with our photo checker).
• Travel medical insurance, EUR 30,000 minimum.
• Confirmed flights, hotels and itinerary.
• Bank statements, 3–6 months, stamped.
• Employment certificate stating your position, salary and approved leave dates.
• Tenancy or accommodation proof, and a cover letter.

Visiting family in Europe

Many Filipino applicants are visiting a sibling or cousin working in Italy, Spain or Germany, who offers to host and fund the trip. This is fine — but it must be declared and documented. Include an invitation letter from your host, proof of their legal status in that country, their address, and their financial documents. Some consulates also accept a formal sponsorship/accommodation declaration lodged by the host locally — ask which applies. Do not present a relative’s money as your own savings; that is the fastest route to refusal.

If you are a nanny or domestic worker travelling with your employer

This is a distinct case. You apply in your own name, but the file is judged on the employer relationship — a proper employer letter, your MOHRE or Tadbeer contract, proof the family is travelling on the same dates, and confirmation that your job continues after the trip. A small personal bank balance is completely normal here; what matters is that the employer clearly declares and evidences that they are funding the trip. Your strongest evidence as a UAE resident is a stable job with approved leave, ongoing salary, and a valid residence visa with time left on it. Yes. With a valid UAE residence visa you apply at the relevant consulate or visa centre in Dubai, Abu Dhabi or Sharjah. There is no need to travel to Manila.

My cousin in Italy will host and pay for me. Is that allowed?

Yes, if it is declared. Include their invitation letter, proof of their legal status and address, and their financial documents. Do not present their money as your own savings.

I am a nanny travelling with my employer. Is it the same application?

You still apply in your own name, but the case rests on the employer letter, your employment contract and proof that the family travels on the same dates and that your job continues afterwards.

Do I need approved leave from my employer?

Yes. An employment certificate confirming your position, salary and approved leave dates is one of the strongest return-intent documents you can submit.
