What is a Lithuania Schengen Visa?
A Lithuania Schengen visa allows UAE residents to enter Lithuania and travel freely across all 29 Schengen Area member countries. It is required for non-GCC nationals residing in the UAE who wish to visit Lithuania for tourism, business or any short stay. UAE passport holders are exempt and may travel visa-free for up to 90 days in any 180-day period.
Lithuania runs the smallest Schengen operation in the Emirates by volume, taking 285 short-stay applications in the whole of 2025, and it is one of the more reasonable posts on outcomes. It also does two things most missions here do not: it requires the application to be completed online before you attend the centre, and it reserves the right to call you in for an interview.
Lithuania Visa Key Details
- 📌 Visa type: Schengen short-stay visa (Type C)
- 📌 Maximum stay: up to 90 days within any 180-day period
- 📌 Validity: single, double or multiple entry
- 📌 Deciding mission: Embassy of the Republic of Lithuania in Abu Dhabi
- 📌 Application centre: VFS Global in Dubai or Abu Dhabi
- 📌 Compulsory first step: complete the application online on Lithuania’s MIGRIS migration system before your appointment
- 📌 Lithuania visa fee: EUR 90 (AED 384) for adults, EUR 45 (AED 190) for children aged 6 to 12, AED 150 under EU facilitation agreements
- 📌 VFS service fee: AED 76.43 per applicant, among the cheapest in this market
- 📌 Travel insurance: mandatory, minimum EUR 30,000 of medical cover
- 📌 Processing time: 15 calendar days from submission, extendable to 45
VFS warns that its dirham figures follow the current exchange rate and can change without notice, so treat AED 384 as indicative and EUR 90 as the fee.
Types of Lithuania Visas Available from the UAE
Tourist visa: for UAE residents travelling for sightseeing or leisure in Vilnius, Kaunas, Klaipeda or the Curonian Spit. Valid for up to 90 days per 180-day period.
Business visa: for meetings, conferences and trade events. An invitation from the Lithuanian host company is normally required.
Visiting family or friends: supported by an invitation from your host in Lithuania and proof of their residence status.
Student visa: short courses fall under the Schengen visa; a full degree programme needs a national long-stay visa.
Airport transit visa: required for certain nationalities transiting a Lithuanian airport without entering the Schengen Area.
National long-stay visa (Type D): for work, study or residence. It is a separate application on a separate online system, not a longer tourist visa.
Where UAE Residents Apply for a Lithuania Visa
Applications are submitted at a VFS Global visa application centre, which has handled Lithuania’s UAE intake since 17 August 2020 through the joint centres in Dubai and Abu Dhabi. No rule allocates applicants by emirate, so residents of Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman, Umm Al Quwain, Ras Al Khaimah, Fujairah, Al Ain and Abu Dhabi may use either centre.
The centre is an intake point, not a decision point. Lithuania states its position in unusually complete terms: in the United Arab Emirates, the examination of applications, interviews where appropriate, the decision and the printing and affixing of visa stickers are carried out only by the Embassy of the Republic of Lithuania in Abu Dhabi. There is no Lithuanian consulate in Dubai. The embassy is also a regional post, accredited additionally to Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar and Iraq, so the queue you join is not a UAE-only one.
The Abu Dhabi centre is at Level B2, Lower Ground, The Mall, World Trade Centre, Khalifa Bin Zayed the First Street. On the Dubai centre we would rather be honest than precise: the embassy publishes the Wafi Mall Phase 2 Falcon address, but VFS relocated within Wafi Mall in March 2025 to Phase 5 Horus, First Floor, and official pages still carry the old address. Use the location printed on your appointment confirmation, not any published street reference, this one included.
One aside for anyone checking our work: the European Commission’s consular protection registry lists 28 EU representations in the UAE and Lithuania is not among them, despite the embassy appearing in the Commission’s own visa statistics. That is a gap in the registry, not evidence of absence.
Two steps are specific to Lithuania. First, you must complete the application online on the MIGRIS portal before you attend VFS; long-stay applicants use a different system entirely. This is not a generic Schengen step, and applicants expecting to fill in a paper form at the counter get turned away. Second, the embassy may summon you to an in-person interview in Abu Dhabi at its discretion, notified by email, which for a Dubai resident can mean a trip at short notice. Personal presence at the centre is in any case mandatory at a first application, for biometrics.

How to Get a Lithuania Schengen Tourist Visa from Dubai (Step-by-Step)
Applying for a Lithuania visa from Dubai has one step most applicants miss. This is how we run it.
Lithuania Visa Processing Time from the UAE
Standard processing is 15 calendar days from submission, extendable to 45 calendar days where additional scrutiny is required. The embassy and VFS agree on this, which is not true of every mission here. Applications are accepted no earlier than six months and no later than fifteen days before travel.
We advise applying four to six weeks ahead, and earlier for summer and Christmas. Allow room for the possibility of an interview in Abu Dhabi, notified at short notice by email.
On outcomes, the European Commission’s 2025 figures record 285 short-stay applications at Abu Dhabi, with 220 visas issued, one of limited territorial validity, and 62 refused. That is a refusal rate of 21.9%, slightly better than the UAE-wide average of 23.9%. Of the visas issued, 98 were multiple entry, about 45%, a healthy share that reflects a small pool of repeat business travellers rather than one-off tourists.
Why Choose Visa Doctor for Your Lithuania Visa?
- ⭐ We handle the MIGRIS stage: the compulsory online registration is the step applicants most often miss, and missing it costs you the appointment.
- ⭐ Honest on the Baltic itinerary: if most of your nights are in Latvia or Estonia, we tell you before you pay a fee at the wrong consulate.
- ⭐ Interview-ready files: Lithuania may call you to Abu Dhabi at its discretion, and we prepare you for that.
- ⭐ Fast appointment access: we work VFS bookings daily, peak periods included.
- ⭐ Insurance handled properly: Schengen-compliant medical cover of at least EUR 30,000, not guesswork about an existing policy.
- ⭐ Transparent pricing: a clear breakdown of the EUR 90 consular fee, the AED 76.43 VFS service fee, insurance and our agency charge.
Frequently Asked Questions, Lithuania Visa from Dubai
Do UAE residents need a visa to visit Lithuania?
Yes, unless you hold a UAE passport or another visa-exempt nationality. Expatriates and non-GCC nationals residing in the UAE must apply for a Lithuania Schengen visa before travelling. UAE passport holders travel visa-free for up to 90 days in any 180-day period.
Is there a Lithuanian consulate in Dubai?
No. The Embassy of the Republic of Lithuania in Abu Dhabi is the only Lithuanian mission in the UAE, and it states that examination, interviews, decisions and the printing of visa stickers are all carried out there. The VFS Global centre in Dubai is an intake point only.
Do I have to apply online before my appointment?
Yes. Lithuania requires the short-stay application to be completed on its MIGRIS migration system before you attend the visa application centre, and long-stay applicants use a separate system. Turning up with only a paper form does not work, and it is the most common reason UAE applicants lose an appointment.
How much is a Lithuania visa from Dubai?
EUR 90 for adults, published by VFS as AED 384, and EUR 45 or AED 190 for children aged 6 to 12. Nationals of countries covered by EU facilitation agreements pay AED 150. The VFS service fee is AED 76.43 per applicant, one of the cheaper service charges in the Emirates. The dirham amounts move with the exchange rate.
Will I be interviewed for a Lithuania visa?
You may be. The embassy in Abu Dhabi may summon an applicant to an in-person interview at its discretion and notifies by email. Most Schengen missions in the UAE do not do this routinely, so allow for the possibility before booking non-refundable travel.
How long does a Lithuania visa take?
Fifteen calendar days from submission, extendable to forty-five where more scrutiny is needed. Applications are accepted no earlier than six months and no later than fifteen days before travel, so we recommend applying four to six weeks ahead.
How hard is a Lithuania visa to get from the UAE?
Slightly easier than average. Lithuania refused 21.9% of its 285 UAE applications in 2025 on the European Commission’s figures, against a UAE-wide average of 23.9%. About 45% of the visas it issued were multiple entry, which points to a solid core of approved repeat travellers.
Can I travel to other Schengen countries on a Lithuania visa?
Yes. A Lithuania Schengen visa is valid across all 29 Schengen member countries, including Latvia, Estonia, Poland and Germany. What you cannot do is choose which country decides the application: it goes to the country where you will spend the most nights, or where they split evenly, the country you enter first.
What if my trip covers Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia?
Count the nights and apply to whichever of the three holds the most. Lithuania accounts for well under a tenth of one percent of all Schengen applications made in the UAE, which tells you how rarely it is genuinely the main destination of a Baltic circuit. Getting this wrong is a standard cause of refusal.
Which address is the VFS centre in Dubai?
Use the address printed on your appointment confirmation. VFS relocated within Wafi Mall in March 2025, from Phase 2 Falcon to Phase 5 Horus on the First Floor, and official pages including the embassy’s are still carrying the old address. The Abu Dhabi centre is at Level B2, Lower Ground, The Mall, World Trade Centre, Khalifa Bin Zayed the First Street.
