Schengen Visa Documents Checklist (from Dubai)

Last reviewed: July 2026 · Reviewed by the Visa Doctor documentation team, Dubai. See our editorial policy.

This is the complete document checklist UAE residents need for a Schengen visa from Dubai. Requirements vary slightly by embassy and by your employment status, so treat this as your master list and confirm specifics for your destination. See also our Schengen requirements overview.

Core documents (everyone)

  • Passport — valid 3+ months beyond return, 2 blank pages, plus copies of previous visas.
  • UAE residence visa & Emirates ID — valid for your travel dates.
  • Application form — completed and signed for the correct embassy.
  • Two biometric photos — recent, white background, Schengen specification.
  • Flight reservation — round trip covering entry and exit (a reserved dummy ticket is usually enough at application stage).
  • Accommodation proof — hotel bookings or a host invitation for the full stay.
  • Travel medical insurance — €30,000 minimum, all 29 states.
  • Bank statements — 3–6 months (see the bank statement guide).
  • Cover letter — your itinerary and purpose (see the cover letter guide).

Employment / status documents

  • Employed: NOC from your employer, salary certificate, and recent payslips.
  • Business owners: valid trade licence and company bank statements.
  • Students: enrolment/NOC letter from the school or university.
  • Retirees: pension proof or evidence of savings.

Extra documents for specific applicants

Minors need birth certificates and parental consent; those visiting family or friends need an invitation letter and the host’s ID/residence proof. Visa Doctor tailors the checklist to your exact profile so nothing is missing at submission.

Frequently asked questions

What documents are mandatory for every Schengen applicant?

Passport, UAE residence visa/Emirates ID, completed application form, two biometric photos, flight and accommodation proof, €30,000 travel insurance, recent bank statements and a cover letter are required from everyone. Employment and personal-status documents are added on top.

Do I need original documents or copies?

Bring originals plus a clear set of copies. Embassies keep the copies with your file and may check originals during your appointment. Statements and certificates should be recent — usually issued within the last 30 days.

Can Visa Doctor prepare my Schengen document file?

Yes. We build your full document set based on your nationality, employment and destination, review it against embassy requirements, and flag anything likely to cause a refusal before you submit.
