Canada Visitor Visa Requirements from Dubai

Last reviewed: July 2026 · Reviewed by the Visa Doctor documentation team, Dubai. See our editorial policy.

The Canada visitor visa (Temporary Resident Visa, or TRV) lets you visit Canada for tourism, business or to see family for up to six months. This guide explains what UAE residents need to apply from Dubai. Visa Doctor prepares your Canada visa documentation; the decision is made by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).

Who needs a Canada visitor visa?

Most UAE residents who are not Canadian citizens or permanent residents, and who do not hold a document for visa-free entry, need a TRV. Eligibility depends on your nationality.

Core requirements

  • Passport valid for your intended stay.
  • Online application through the IRCC portal.
  • Application fee of CAD $100, plus a CAD $85 biometrics fee (2026).
  • Biometrics at a Visa Application Centre (VAC) in the UAE.
  • Proof of funds and of ties that show you will leave Canada.
  • Purpose documents — itinerary, invitation letter, or business letter.

Proving you will return

IRCC assesses whether you are a genuine temporary visitor. Strong ties to the UAE — employment, family, property or business — and clear finances are decisive. See our documents & financial requirements guide and plan around our processing time & biometrics guide.

Frequently asked questions

How much is a Canada visitor visa from Dubai?

In 2026 the TRV application fee is CAD $100, plus a CAD $85 biometrics fee — about CAD $185 in total per applicant. Confirm current fees on the official IRCC website before paying.

Do UAE residents need biometrics for a Canada visa?

Yes. After applying online and paying the biometrics fee, you attend a Visa Application Centre in the UAE to give fingerprints and a photo. Biometrics are generally valid for 10 years.

Is there an interview for a Canada visitor visa?

Usually not — most visitor applications are decided on the documents you submit. That makes a complete, well-presented file especially important.
