**Quick answer:** there is no VFS France visa centre in Dubai. France is handled by VFS Global in the UAE, but the only France Visa Application Centre is in Abu Dhabi, at The Mall, World Trade Center, and France-Visas directs residents of Dubai and the Northern Emirates to it. You complete the application on France-Visas first, then book one appointment per applicant on the VFS Global France UAE site and pay the VFS service fee online. France is not run by TLScontact in the UAE, despite what some guides say.

## VFS France Dubai: why the search leads to Abu Dhabi

People type “VFS France Dubai” because most Schengen countries do have a counter in Dubai, and because several websites describe a French centre in Wafi Mall or in a TLScontact office. Neither is correct for France today. France-Visas, the French government portal, states that all French visa applications in the UAE are handled by the consular section in Abu Dhabi, and that residents of the Emirates submit at the VFS centre in Abu Dhabi.

That matters for anyone living in Dubai or the Northern Emirates: there is no Dubai slot to book, and you should plan a full morning or afternoon for the journey. Our full country page on the [France visa from Dubai and Abu Dhabi](/country-post/france/) covers the documents, fees and refusal reasons; this guide is about the visa centre itself.

Last checked: 2 October 2026, against France-Visas (United Arab Emirates page and appointment guidance) and the VFS Global France UAE pages. Centre details and fees can change without notice, so confirm them on your own booking confirmation.

## Who runs what for France in the UAE

- **The decision:** the consular section of the Embassy of France in Abu Dhabi decides every French visa application from the UAE.

- **The visa centre:** VFS Global operates the France Visa Application Centre. It receives your file, takes biometrics and returns your passport. Staff there do not assess your case.

- **The application form:** completed online on France-Visas, not on the VFS site.

- **TLScontact:** TLScontact is a visa-centre operator for France in other countries, which is probably why the name appears in UAE searches. We found no TLScontact role for France in the UAE on the French or VFS pages.

You are therefore dealing with three separate websites: France-Visas for the form, VFS Global for the appointment, and the consulate for the decision. Mixing them up is the most common first mistake.

## Where the France visa centre is and its opening times

France-Visas gives the address as **VFS Global, Level B2 (lower ground), The Mall, World Trade Center, Khalifa Bin Zayed The 1st Street (Airport Road), Abu Dhabi**. It lists file submission from Monday to Friday, 09:00 to 15:00, and passport collection from Monday to Friday, 09:00 to 17:00. The centre is closed at weekends.

From Dubai, allow around 90 minutes each way by car depending on traffic, and more at peak hours. Arrive about ten minutes before your time and not much earlier. Leave a margin for traffic: France-Visas says the service fee is not refunded for a missed appointment.

## How to book a France visa appointment from the UAE

### 1. Decide that France is your main destination

You apply to France if it is where you will spend the most nights, or if your stays are equal and France is your first point of entry. Applying to France because it has appointments when your real destination is elsewhere is a common cause of refusal. If your plans are mixed, read [which Schengen country has the fastest appointment](/which-schengen-country-fastest-appointment-dubai/) before you choose.

### 2. Complete the form on France-Visas

Create an account, answer the questions, and print the completed form together with the document list it generates for your category. France-Visas is clear that the application is not finished until you lodge the printed form with your documents at the centre.

### 3. Book on the VFS Global France UAE site

Each applicant needs an individual appointment and submits an individual application, including each member of a family. You pay by credit card online, which confirms the appointment immediately. France-Visas states the VFS service fee as EUR 30.33 per application, charged in dirhams, and it is not refunded if you cancel, miss the appointment or lodge an incomplete file.

### 4. Print the confirmation

The confirmation letter is sent by email. Print it and bring it, along with the printed France-Visas form and your passport.

## How early to book

France asks applicants to submit their application between three months and two weeks before departure, and no earlier than six months. In practice the appointment is the bottleneck, not the decision. France runs a single centre for the whole country’s UAE population, so the calendar fills quickly for summer, Christmas and school holidays. Our guide on [how far in advance to book a Schengen appointment in Dubai](/how-far-in-advance-book-schengen-appointment-dubai/) sets out a sensible timeline, and the France advice is the same: begin looking as soon as your dates are fixed, not six weeks before departure.

## What happens at the centre

- **Entry:** staff check your confirmation letter and passport. Only applicants are normally admitted, with exceptions for a companion of a child or of a person with reduced mobility.

- **Document check:** an agent goes through your file against the checklist. This is a completeness check, not an assessment.

- **Biometrics:** fingerprints and a digital photo, unless you are exempt. Children under 12 do not give fingerprints, and people who gave fingerprints for a Schengen visa within the last 59 months may not need to repeat them. France-Visas explains who is exempt, so check before assuming.

- **Fees:** the French consular visa fee is paid in dirhams at the rate the consulate applies. France-Visas lists EUR 90 for adults and EUR 45 for children aged 6 to under 12, and says the fee is retained even if the visa is refused.

- **Receipt:** you leave with a reference to track the application. Our guide on [what happens at a VFS biometrics appointment in Dubai](/vfs-dubai-biometrics-what-happens/) walks through a typical visit.

## What to bring, and what to leave at home

Bring your passport, the printed appointment confirmation, the printed and signed France-Visas form, your Emirates ID and residence visa copy, photographs to the ICAO specification, and the complete supporting file in the order the checklist gives. The [Schengen visa documents checklist](/schengen-visa-documents-checklist/) shows the standard file for UAE residents by profile, and the France-Visas list for your category is the final word.

Leave large bags and anything you would mind being separated from. VFS centres commonly restrict phones, laptops and bulky items at the entrance, and your confirmation letter states the rules for your visit.

## Rescheduling and cancelling

France-Visas allows changes and cancellations only up to two working days before the date. A further change counts as a fresh booking with a new service charge, so choose carefully before you pay.

## No France appointments showing

The consulate controls how many slots exist, and VFS only runs the centre. No agency can create an appointment. What helps in practice:

- Search across the whole six month window, not just the next few weeks.

- Check at different times of day, because cancelled and rescheduled slots return unpredictably.

- Have your file finished before you start looking, so you can take a slot at short notice.

- Be ready to travel to Abu Dhabi on the day a slot appears. A cancellation is only useful if you can reach the centre.

Our guide on [what to do when no Schengen appointments are available in Dubai](/no-schengen-appointments-available-dubai/) covers the options in full, and [VFS Prime Time](/vfs-premium-prime-time-worth-it-dubai/) explains the paid out-of-hours slots, which change the time of day but not the decision. A consulate may accept an urgent case without an appointment if there is genuine, documented urgency, but that is at its discretion.

## When an agency helps, and what it cannot do

We are not VFS or the French consulate, and we cannot issue a visa or promise an appointment. What a documentation agency can do is check that France is genuinely your main destination, complete the France-Visas form consistently with your supporting documents, prepare the file against the current checklist, and watch the official system for slots while you are not able to. If you want that kind of support, see [visa appointment booking in Dubai](/visa-appointment-booking-dubai/). Everything on the visa decision itself belongs to the consulate.

## Frequently asked questions

### Is there a VFS France visa centre in Dubai?

No. VFS Global lists a single France Visa Application Centre in the UAE, in Abu Dhabi. France-Visas directs residents of Dubai and the Northern Emirates to that centre.

### Does TLScontact handle France visas in the UAE?

Not according to the French and VFS pages we checked. France-Visas names VFS Global as the service provider for the UAE. TLScontact runs French centres in other countries, so older or generic guides sometimes confuse the two.

### How much is the VFS France service fee?

France-Visas states EUR 30.33 per application, charged online in dirhams when you book. It is separate from the French visa fee, which you pay at the centre. Fees can change, so check the booking page on the day.

### How early should I book a France visa appointment from Dubai?

France asks for applications between three months and two weeks before departure, and no earlier than six months. Start looking as soon as your dates are firm, because one centre serves the whole country.

### Can I book the France appointment for my whole family at once?

Each person needs an individual appointment and a separate application. You can book them one after another on the same site, but family members do not share a single slot.

### Do my children need to come to the centre?

Children under 12 do not give fingerprints, and France-Visas says a parent or legal guardian lodges their application. Children aged 12 and over attend, and one companion may enter with them. Check the current wording on France-Visas for your case.
