# Spain Visa Appointment from Dubai and Abu Dhabi (2026)

**Spain visa appointments in the UAE are booked with BLS International, not VFS Global, and BLS now requires every applicant to book their own appointment on the official BLS website. Appointments made through intermediaries are not accepted at the centre.** BLS runs Spain centres in Dubai (I Rise Tower, Barsha Heights) and Abu Dhabi (Tamouh Tower, Al Reem Island), and every file goes to the Embassy of Spain in Abu Dhabi, which decides it. The adult visa fee is AED 388, plus a BLS service charge of AED 73, and BLS says the Embassy’s minimum processing time is 3 weeks.

If you have been searching VFS for Spain slots and finding nothing, that is why. This page walks through booking on BLS, what to do when no slots show, the documents BLS checks most strictly, and refusal reasons. Everything was checked on the BLS International Spain UAE website on 25 September 2026.

## How to book a Spain visa appointment on BLS, step by step

- **Check Spain is your main destination.** BLS applies the standard rule: the Embassy of the country where you stay longest, or of first entry if stays are equal.

- **Open the official site**, [uae.blsspainvisa.com](https://uae.blsspainvisa.com/), and choose Book Appointment. Do not use any other website that offers Spain slots.

- **Register and book with your own details.** BLS says its system verifies during booking that applicants are booking for themselves, and appointments made by third parties or intermediaries are not accepted at the visa centre.

- **Pay any online BLS fee** knowing it is not refundable, even if you cancel or do not attend.

- **Print the appointment letter.** You can reprint it from the same portal.

- **Attend in person with the complete file.** Everyone aged 12 and over gives biometrics at the centre.

- **Pay the visa fee and service charge** at the counter, in cash or by card, and keep the receipt. BLS staff must give a receipt for every payment.

- **Track the application** on the BLS website and collect your passport between 15:00 and 17:00, or use courier delivery.

Rescheduling is not available. To change the date you cancel the existing appointment and book a new one, and the fee paid for the first booking is not refunded. Since the self-booking change, spouses of EU or EEA citizens must also book an appointment rather than walk in. Our news post on the change is here: [BLS Spain self-booking rules for UAE applicants](https://visadoctor.ae/bls-spain-visa-self-booking-rules-uae/).

## No Spain appointments available? What works

Spain is one of the highest-demand Schengen destinations for UAE residents, especially across summer and holiday periods. The Embassy decides how many appointments exist; BLS only operates the centres.

- **Use the full 180-day window.** For an August trip, start in February or March.

- **Look for cancellations at varied times,** including early morning and evening. Cancelled slots return unpredictably.

- **Finish the file before you hunt.** A cancellation three days away is useless without insurance, statements and the employer letter ready.

- **Try the other centre if you can travel to it.** Both BLS centres send files to the same Embassy in Abu Dhabi.

- **Prime Time appointments** let you submit after normal hours, 15:00 to 17:00, Monday to Friday, at AED 262.50 including VAT. BLS lists them for Dubai, Abu Dhabi and the Premium Lounge.

- **Doorstep service** is an official BLS option in which staff collect your application at home or at work, from AED 1,100 per application for one or two applicants.

- **Know what paid extras do not do.** BLS states that value-added services do not grant a fast-track, a preferential appointment or faster processing, and that the AED 450 Premium Lounge does not mean an earlier appointment.

- **Never buy an appointment.** BLS warns applicants not to buy slots from third parties and says its staff never ask for payment to obtain or expedite an appointment. Report any such request to antifraud@blsinternational.com.

## What is a Spain Schengen visa?

A Spain Schengen visa is the uniform short-stay visa (type C) for tourism, visits, business, medical treatment or transit, valid for up to 90 days in any 180-day period across the 29 Schengen states. UAE citizens do not need one; most other nationalities living in the UAE do. BLS also accepts national (long-stay) visa categories for Spain, such as study, non-lucrative residence and family reunification, which follow separate rules.

## Spain visa documents checklist for UAE residents, by profile

BLS publishes the Spain checklist for each category on its UAE website, and the Embassy of Spain may request any other document, an interview or your appearance in person. This table is the standard file UAE residents submit, arranged by profile, with the Spain-specific rules BLS enforces added at the end.

Your profile |
What to prepare |

Every applicant |
Passport issued in the last 10 years, valid at least 3 months after you leave the Schengen area, with 2 blank pages; the Spain Schengen application form, completed and signed (forms for minors signed by both parents); one recent ICAO standard photo; UAE residence visa and Emirates ID; travel medical insurance of at least EUR 30,000 valid for the whole Schengen area and the whole trip; flight reservation and hotel booking (or an invitation letter); personal bank statements for the period your checklist states, stamped by the bank; a cover letter explaining the trip. |

Employed |
Employer NOC or salary certificate on company letterhead stating your position, salary, start date and approved leave dates, signed with the signatory’s full name and position; recent payslips if your checklist asks for them; the bank statement should show the salary arriving each month. |

Business owner or self-employed |
UAE trade licence, proof that you own or partly own the company (for example the memorandum of association or partner list), company bank statements and your personal bank statements; a letter on company letterhead explaining the trip. |

Dependant spouse or child (sponsored) |
Sponsor’s NOC with a copy of the sponsor’s passport and UAE residence visa, the sponsor’s employment letter or trade licence, the sponsor’s bank statements, and the marriage or birth certificate. Children under 18 need consent from both parents, and a parent who is not travelling signs an authorisation. |

BLS rules on employer letters |
NOCs and salary certificates must be signed and show the full name of the signatory, their position in the company, and their Emirates ID number or a copy of it. Letters without these are a common reason for a file being sent back. |

Children |
Birth certificate translated into English or Spanish, NOC signed by both parents with copies of their passports, and a parent’s authorisation if the child travels with one parent or a guardian. Children aged 12 to 18 attend for biometrics. |

Travel insurance |
Mandatory for Spain under Regulation (EU) 2019/1155, with at least EUR 30,000 of cover including medical evacuation and repatriation. |

## Spain visa processing time and fees

BLS states, on the Embassy’s instructions, that the minimum processing time for a Spain short-stay visa is 3 weeks, and it asks applicants to submit at least 3 weeks before travel to allow for unforeseen delays. Applications lodged at either centre reach the Embassy the next working day, and the processing time starts after the day of submission. The Embassy of Spain gives the legal decision period as 15 calendar days from the day after submission, extendable to 45 calendar days if an interview or more documents are requested, and nationals of some countries need consultations that can lengthen it.

Fee |
Amount (BLS UAE, 25 September 2026) |

Visa fee, adults |
AED 388 |

Visa fee, children aged 6 to 12 |
AED 194 |

Visa fee, children under 6 |
Free |

Visa fee, spouses and relatives of EU citizens |
Free |

BLS service charge, per applicant |
AED 73 including VAT |

Optional: Prime Time submission |
AED 262.50 including VAT |

Optional: Premium Lounge |
AED 450 (does not mean an earlier appointment) |

BLS notes that the dirham amount follows the current exchange rate and can change without notice, and that visa fees are not refunded.

## Common Spain visa refusal reasons and how to fix them

The grounds for refusing a Schengen visa are the same for every member state and are listed in Article 32 of the EU Visa Code. The refusal letter ticks the ground that applied and explains how to appeal. These are the ones we see most often in UAE files, and what prevents each one.

Refusal ground |
What usually causes it |
How to fix it before you apply |

The purpose and conditions of the trip were not justified |
Dates, bookings, leave letter and cover letter tell different stories, or the itinerary is vague. |
Make every document show the same dates and the same route, and explain the trip in a short cover letter. |

Not enough means of subsistence |
Low balance, or a large unexplained deposit just before applying. |
Show a steady balance built from salary or business income over several months, and explain any large transfer. |

Doubts about your intention to leave before the visa expires |
Weak ties to the UAE: short residence validity, no job letter, no approved leave. |
Include the employer letter with approved leave, a residence visa valid well beyond your return, and proof of family or property ties. |

Doubts about documents or statements |
A reservation that cannot be verified, a statement that does not match the salary letter. |
Submit genuine, checkable documents and keep figures consistent across every page. |

No adequate travel medical insurance |
Cover below EUR 30,000, not valid across the Schengen area, or shorter than the trip. |
Buy a policy that meets the EU minimum and covers every day of the stay. |

You have already used 90 days in the current 180-day period |
Previous trips add up to the limit. |
Count your days with our [90/180 calculator](https://visadoctor.ae/schengen-90-180-day-calculator/) before you choose dates. |

If your Spain visa is refused, the Embassy of Spain states that you can file an appeal for reconsideration with the Consular Office within 1 month of the day after you receive the refusal, and an application for judicial review with the High Court of Justice of Madrid within 2 months. BLS adds that applicants who applied at its UAE centres can lodge the appeal, with the new documents that answer the refusal letter, without a prior appointment, and track it on the BLS website.

Applying to the wrong country is a separate problem: you must apply to your main destination, the country where you spend the most nights, or the country you enter first if the nights are equal. See [the main destination rule](https://visadoctor.ae/schengen-main-destination-rule-dubai/). If you have already been refused, read [appeal or reapply after a Schengen refusal](https://visadoctor.ae/schengen-visa-refused-appeal-or-reapply-dubai/).

## How Visa Doctor helps with your Spain visa

- **Right country, right centre.** We confirm that Spain is genuinely your main destination and that you are booking the centre that covers the emirate on your residence visa.

- **Documents selected and reviewed.** We build your file against the current checklist for your profile, check every date and figure for consistency, and flag gaps before the appointment, not at the counter.

- **Forms completed.** We fill the online application form with you and prepare the printed copy you take to the centre.

- **Booking guidance, not booking on your behalf.** Because BLS requires applicants to book their own Spain appointment, we sit with you while you book in your own name, and we make sure the file is ready for the slot you take.

- **Cover letter written.** A short, specific letter that explains who you are, why you are travelling and why you will return.

- **Flight and hotel reservations** for the visa file, matched to your itinerary.

- **Briefing before the appointment,** so you know what to bring and what happens at the centre.

What we do not do: we do not sell appointments, we do not influence the decision, and we never promise approval. The consulate decides every application. Your first consultation is free, and we tell you honestly whether your travel date is realistic before you pay anything.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I applied for shengen visa in April 2026. Working with Barlas was a big pleasure and absence of any issues or problems. He prepared all documents and answered millions of my questions. He recommended me Swiss embassy instead of Italy showing that he has a deep understanding of the situation now. Got my visa in 2 weeks, unfortunately for 1 entry only but it’s something the company can’t influence. Fully recommend

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Bar, I honestly don’t even know where to start — this was such a different experience from anything I’ve had before with visa agencies.

From the very first moment, you were there. I called, you picked up immediately, and within minutes after our conversation you had already sent me all the available appointment slots and clearly explained which country would give me the best chances. Everything felt structured, transparent, and under control — no stress, no anxiety on my side at all.

You handled the entire process end-to-end: guided me through every document, helped me prepare everything properly, and even wrote incredibly strong cover letters that made a real difference. I truly felt that you did everything possible to maximize my chances of getting a one-year visa.

But beyond the professionalism, what really stood out is how easy it was to communicate with you. You’re positive, responsive, and genuinely supportive. You were always available, even outside working hours — which I really appreciate (and sorry for messaging you then 🙈).

I’ve worked with visa agencies many times before, and honestly, most of the experiences were frustrating — agents disappearing, not replying for days, leaving me stressed and unsure. This is the first time I’ve had such a smooth, reliable, and genuinely positive experience.

I know my profile and documents were strong, but I’m absolutely sure that without your help, my chances of getting a one-year Schengen visa — especially on my first application from the UAE — would have been much lower.

Thank you so much, Bar. I truly appreciate your work and your attitude. I will wholeheartedly recommend you to anyone who needs help with a visa.
