# Italy Visa Appointment from Dubai and Abu Dhabi (2026)

**Italy is the one Schengen country that splits the UAE between two visa centres, and the emirate that issued your residence visa decides which one you use. If your residence visa is from Dubai or the Northern Emirates, you book with VFS Global in Dubai for the Consulate General of Italy in Dubai. If it is from Abu Dhabi, Al Ain or Al Dhafra, you book with BLS International in Abu Dhabi for the Embassy of Italy.** Neither centre accepts residents of the other jurisdiction, so booking the wrong one wastes the slot and the fee.

The visa fee is EUR 90 for adults, which BLS lists as AED 386, and applications are accepted no more than 6 months and no later than 15 calendar days before travel. UAE citizens do not need a visa for short stays; almost everyone else living in the UAE does. Everything below was checked on the Italian Embassy, VFS Global and BLS International pages on 25 September 2026.

## Italy visa at a glance

|
Italy short-stay (Schengen) visa from the UAE |

Residence visa from Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman, Umm Al Quwain, Ras Al Khaimah or Fujairah |
VFS Global Italy Visa Application Centre, Dubai, for the Consulate General of Italy in Dubai. Book on [VFS Global Italy (Dubai)](https://visa.vfsglobal.com/dxb/en/ita/book-an-appointment). Centre hours Monday to Friday, 09:00 to 18:00. |

Residence visa from Abu Dhabi, Al Ain or Al Dhafra |

Book tourist appointments on [the BLS Italy portal](https://ita-are.blsinternational.com/Global/account/login). Submission Monday to Friday, 09:00 to 15:00; passport collection 09:00 to 17:00. |

Business visas in Abu Dhabi |
The Embassy states that business visa applicants can go directly to the BLS centre at any time without an appointment. |

Visa fee |
EUR 90 (AED 386 at BLS) for adults; EUR 45 (AED 193) for children aged 6 to 12; free up to age 5. BLS applies the Embassy’s exchange rate, reviewed every quarter. At VFS Dubai the visa fee is paid in cash or by card at the centre. |

Service fee |
BLS Abu Dhabi: EUR 16.80 including VAT (AED 71.93). VFS Dubai charges its own service fee when you book. |

Processing time |
Up to 15 calendar days, and up to 45 in particular circumstances (Article 23 of the Visa Code). BLS notes the Embassy usually aims to return applications within a week, depending on the category. |

How early you can apply |
No more than 6 months and no later than 15 calendar days before travel. BLS returns applications outside that window, and the booking fee is not refunded. |

Validity |
Up to 90 days in any 180-day period across the Schengen area; single or multiple entry, up to 5 years for frequent lawful travellers. |

## How to book an Italy visa appointment, step by step

### If your residence visa is from Dubai or the Northern Emirates: VFS Global Dubai

- **Check Italy is your main destination:** the country where you spend the most nights, counted by nights, or your first entry if the nights are equal.

- **Prepare the documents first.** The portal asks for applicant details upfront, and a slot that appears for next week is only useful if your file is ready.

- **Book on the [VFS Global Italy Dubai booking page](https://visa.vfsglobal.com/dxb/en/ita/book-an-appointment).** Each member of a family or group needs an individual appointment. You receive a confirmation email and an appointment letter.

- **Complete and print the application form** and bring it with the appointment letter.

- **Attend the Dubai centre in person,** give fingerprints and a photo, and pay the visa fee in cash or by card.

- **Track the application** with the reference on your receipt and your date of birth, then collect the passport or choose courier return.

VFS Dubai allows one reschedule up to 2 days before the appointment, subject to availability, and cancellation up to 3 days before. A further change counts as a new booking with a new service charge.

### If your residence visa is from Abu Dhabi, Al Ain or Al Dhafra: BLS International Abu Dhabi

- **Book a tourist appointment** on the [BLS International Italy portal](https://ita-are.blsinternational.com/Global/account/login). Business applicants may walk in during submission hours without an appointment.

- **Prepare the file** against the Embassy checklist for your category, including travel insurance.

- **Attend Nation Towers Mall** between 09:00 and 15:00, Monday to Friday, and pay the visa fee and the BLS service fee in cash.

- **Collect your passport** between 09:00 and 17:00 once the Embassy returns it.

Family members of EU citizens can go directly to the Embassy visa office by requesting an appointment by email at visa.abudhabi@esteri.it. The Embassy stresses that the BLS premium lounge and other paid extras are optional and are not needed to submit an application.

## No Italy appointments available? What actually improves your odds

Italy is one of the most requested Schengen destinations for UAE residents, and the Dubai centre serves a very large population. Between roughly May and September, and around Eid and school holidays, demand runs well ahead of the slots released. The consulate controls how many appointments exist; the centre only operates the booking. Nobody, including an agency, can create a slot that does not exist.

- **Start inside the 6-month window immediately.** If you are travelling in July, look in January or February. Most people who get stuck started six weeks before departure.

- **Watch for released and cancelled slots** at varied times, including early morning and late evening, rather than once a day at the same hour.

- **Have the complete file ready before you book,** so you can take a cancellation for the day after tomorrow.

- **Check your jurisdiction.** Abu Dhabi residents cannot take a Dubai slot, and the reverse. If your Emirates ID and residence visa were issued in Abu Dhabi, you belong to BLS.

- **Do not hold several bookings** to keep options open. It breaks the booking rules and can get your appointments cancelled.

- **Genuine emergencies:** the Visa Code lets a consulate accept an application without an appointment, or give one immediately, in justified cases of urgency. Contact the consulate or Embassy directly with evidence.

If your only available appointment is after your travel date, that date is not realistic through the normal queue. Move the trip, keep monitoring with a ready file, or reconsider the itinerary if another country is genuinely where you will spend the most nights. Do not book non-refundable flights before you have a confirmed appointment.

## What happens at your Italy appointment

You hand over the printed application form and the documents in checklist order, give ten fingerprints and a photo unless you gave them for a Schengen visa within the last 59 months or you are under 12, and pay the visa and service fees. Staff at the centre check that the file is complete; they do not assess it and cannot tell you whether it will be approved. The consulate or Embassy decides.

The most common reasons files are delayed at this stage are avoidable: travel dates on the form that do not match the flight or hotel booking, bank statements that do not cover the period on the checklist, and an application lodged so close to travel that there is no time to supply a missing document.

## Italy visa documents checklist for UAE residents, by profile

The Italy checklist for your visa category is the final word, and missions update it without notice. This table is the standard Schengen file that UAE residents submit, arranged by who you are, so you can see what applies to you before you book.

Your profile |
What to prepare |

Every applicant |
Passport issued in the last 10 years, valid at least 3 months after you leave the Schengen area, with 2 blank pages; the Schengen application form, completed and signed; one recent ICAO standard photo; UAE residence visa and Emirates ID; travel medical insurance of at least EUR 30,000 valid for the whole Schengen area and the whole trip; flight reservation and hotel booking (or an invitation letter); personal bank statements for the period your checklist states, stamped by the bank; a cover letter explaining the trip. |

Employed |
Employer NOC or salary certificate on company letterhead stating your position, salary, start date and approved leave dates, signed with the signatory’s full name and position; recent payslips if your checklist asks for them; the bank statement should show the salary arriving each month. |

Business owner or self-employed |
UAE trade licence, proof that you own or partly own the company (for example the memorandum of association or partner list), company bank statements and your personal bank statements; a letter on company letterhead explaining the trip. |

Dependant spouse or child (sponsored) |
Sponsor’s NOC with a copy of the sponsor’s passport and UAE residence visa, the sponsor’s employment letter or trade licence, the sponsor’s bank statements, and the marriage or birth certificate. Children under 18 need consent from both parents, and a parent who is not travelling signs an authorisation. |

Business travellers |
Invitation from the Italian company or organiser and an employer letter explaining the trip. In Abu Dhabi, business applicants may submit without an appointment. |

## Common Italy visa refusal reasons and how to fix them

The grounds for refusing a Schengen visa are the same for every member state and are listed in Article 32 of the EU Visa Code. The refusal letter ticks the ground that applied and explains how to appeal. These are the ones we see most often in UAE files, and what prevents each one.

Refusal ground |
What usually causes it |
How to fix it before you apply |

The purpose and conditions of the trip were not justified |
Dates, bookings, leave letter and cover letter tell different stories, or the itinerary is vague. |
Make every document show the same dates and the same route, and explain the trip in a short cover letter. |

Not enough means of subsistence |
Low balance, or a large unexplained deposit just before applying. |
Show a steady balance built from salary or business income over several months, and explain any large transfer. |

Doubts about your intention to leave before the visa expires |
Weak ties to the UAE: short residence validity, no job letter, no approved leave. |
Include the employer letter with approved leave, a residence visa valid well beyond your return, and proof of family or property ties. |

Doubts about documents or statements |
A reservation that cannot be verified, a statement that does not match the salary letter. |
Submit genuine, checkable documents and keep figures consistent across every page. |

No adequate travel medical insurance |
Cover below EUR 30,000, not valid across the Schengen area, or shorter than the trip. |
Buy a policy that meets the EU minimum and covers every day of the stay. |

You have already used 90 days in the current 180-day period |
Previous trips add up to the limit. |
Count your days with our [90/180 calculator](https://visadoctor.ae/schengen-90-180-day-calculator/) before you choose dates. |

Applying to the wrong country is a separate problem: you must apply to your main destination, the country where you spend the most nights, or the country you enter first if the nights are equal. See [the main destination rule](https://visadoctor.ae/schengen-main-destination-rule-dubai/). If you have already been refused, read [appeal or reapply after a Schengen refusal](https://visadoctor.ae/schengen-visa-refused-appeal-or-reapply-dubai/).

## How Visa Doctor helps with your Italy visa

- **Right country, right centre.** We confirm that Italy is genuinely your main destination and that you are booking the centre that covers the emirate on your residence visa.

- **Documents selected and reviewed.** We build your file against the current checklist for your profile, check every date and figure for consistency, and flag gaps before the appointment, not at the counter.

- **Forms completed.** We fill the online application form with you and prepare the printed copy you take to the centre.

- **Appointment booked at the right centre.** We book in the official VFS or BLS system for your jurisdiction and keep checking for earlier slots that fit your dates.

- **Cover letter written.** A short, specific letter that explains who you are, why you are travelling and why you will return.

- **Flight and hotel reservations** for the visa file, matched to your itinerary.

- **Briefing before the appointment,** so you know what to bring and what happens at the centre.

What we do not do: we do not sell appointments, we do not influence the decision, and we never promise approval. The consulate decides every application. Your first consultation is free, and we tell you honestly whether your travel date is realistic before you pay anything.

Yes, once, up to 2 days before the appointment and subject to availability. Cancellation is possible up to 3 days before. Further changes count as a new booking with a new service charge.

### Does a visa agency get access to special Italy appointment slots?

No. Agencies use the same public booking systems. A good agency prepares the file so you can act the moment a slot appears and makes sure you apply at the right centre and to the right country.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I applied for shengen visa in April 2026. Working with Barlas was a big pleasure and absence of any issues or problems. He prepared all documents and answered millions of my questions. He recommended me Swiss embassy instead of Italy showing that he has a deep understanding of the situation now. Got my visa in 2 weeks, unfortunately for 1 entry only but it’s something the company can’t influence. Fully recommend

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Bar, I honestly don’t even know where to start — this was such a different experience from anything I’ve had before with visa agencies.

From the very first moment, you were there. I called, you picked up immediately, and within minutes after our conversation you had already sent me all the available appointment slots and clearly explained which country would give me the best chances. Everything felt structured, transparent, and under control — no stress, no anxiety on my side at all.

You handled the entire process end-to-end: guided me through every document, helped me prepare everything properly, and even wrote incredibly strong cover letters that made a real difference. I truly felt that you did everything possible to maximize my chances of getting a one-year visa.

But beyond the professionalism, what really stood out is how easy it was to communicate with you. You’re positive, responsive, and genuinely supportive. You were always available, even outside working hours — which I really appreciate (and sorry for messaging you then 🙈).

I’ve worked with visa agencies many times before, and honestly, most of the experiences were frustrating — agents disappearing, not replying for days, leaving me stressed and unsure. This is the first time I’ve had such a smooth, reliable, and genuinely positive experience.

I know my profile and documents were strong, but I’m absolutely sure that without your help, my chances of getting a one-year Schengen visa — especially on my first application from the UAE — would have been much lower.

Thank you so much, Bar. I truly appreciate your work and your attitude. I will wholeheartedly recommend you to anyone who needs help with a visa.
