**Quick answer:** A Cyprus visa from Dubai is a Cyprus national short stay visa. UAE residents who need one lodge a paper application in person at VFS Global in Dubai or Abu Dhabi after booking online, and the Embassy of the Republic of Cyprus in Abu Dhabi decides it. Cyprus is in the EU but not in the Schengen area, so a Cyprus visa is valid for Cyprus only. A valid double or multiple entry Schengen visa can let you enter without a Cyprus visa. Visa Doctor is not an embassy, consulate or visa centre.

## Cyprus visa from Dubai: the offices involved

Three parties are involved when you apply from the UAE, and it helps to know which does what.

- **Embassy of the Republic of Cyprus in Abu Dhabi:** the diplomatic mission that decides your application. Its consular section is where Syrian and Turkish nationals lodge applications directly.

- **VFS Global:** the visa centres where everyone else submits. The Embassy’s visa page names VFS Global in Dubai (Wafi Mall) and in Abu Dhabi (World Trade Centre).

- **You:** every applicant must appear in person, whether at VFS Global or at the Embassy.

## Embassy address, phones and hours

- **Address:** Al Nahyan Camp, Nashash Street, Villa No. 32, Abu Dhabi. Postal address: P.O. Box 63013, Abu Dhabi.

- **Telephone:** +971 2 665 4480.

- **Email:** abudhabiembassy@mfa.gov.cy, and abudhabiconsulate@mfa.gov.cy for the consular section.

- **Consular section hours:** Monday to Friday, 09:00 to 12:00, with an appointment in advance required.

- **Syrian and Turkish nationals:** submit at the Embassy every Tuesday and Wednesday from 09:00 to 12:00, in person, with no appointment required.

The Embassy publishes its holiday closures for the year on its working hours page, so check it before a trip to Abu Dhabi. For VFS Global, the Embassy gives the telephone 04 205 5660 and the website visa.vfsglobal.com/are/en/cyp. We could not verify VFS Global’s opening hours for the Cyprus centres, so read them on that page.

## Is there a Cyprus Pro Visa for UAE residents?

You may have seen “Cyprus Pro Visa” in search results or on agency sites. On the Embassy’s visa information page for the UAE, the route described is a standard short stay visa lodged at VFS Global, with a paper form and an in person submission. The page does not mention a Pro Visa, and states that applications cannot be completed and submitted electronically. We therefore cannot confirm a Pro Visa route for UAE applicants. Before paying anyone who offers one, check the Embassy’s visa page and the Cyprus Ministry of Foreign Affairs visa information, both linked in our sources note.

## Do you need a Cyprus visa?

This depends on your passport, and our companion guide [Cyprus visa from Dubai: who needs one](/cyprus-visa-from-dubai-who-needs-one/) covers it in depth. The key points from the official Cyprus pages are these.

- **Not Schengen:** the Cyprus government states that visas and residence permits issued by Cyprus are currently valid only for the Republic of Cyprus. Do not assume a Cyprus visa lets you into France or Italy, and do not assume Cyprus days use up a Schengen allowance. See our explanation of the [Schengen 90 in 180 day rule](/schengen-90-180-rule-explained-uae/).

- **Schengen visa holders:** holders of a valid Schengen visa for two or multiple entries, and holders of national visas and residence permits issued by Schengen member states, do not need a Cyprus short stay visa for up to 90 days in any 180-day period. Turkish and Azerbaijani citizens are excluded from this rule.

- **Visa-exempt passports:** some passports are on Cyprus’s visa-free list. UAE nationals are among them, as our Cyprus guide records.

- **Your UAE residence:** a residence permit is not a substitute for a Cyprus visa, but it is what allows you to apply in the UAE.

## Step by step for UAE residents

- **Step 1.** Confirm you need a visa and that you are not covered by a double or multiple entry Schengen visa.

- **Step 2.** Choose your category. The Embassy provides checklists for tourist, business, and family and friends visits.

- **Step 3.** Collect the documents on the current checklist and the signed application form.

- **Step 4.** Book your appointment online with VFS Global at visa.vfsglobal.com/are/en/cyp. Syrian and Turkish nationals go to the Embassy on its set days.

- **Step 5.** Attend in person with your original passport and documents. The Embassy says the service fee is AED 29 for applicants at VFS Global in Dubai, and the same in Abu Dhabi.

- **Step 6.** Wait for the decision. The Embassy says processing is completed within 18 to 20 working days at the latest, and may extend to 45 working days where the file needs more review.

The Cyprus government lists a short stay visa fee of EUR 90 for adults and EUR 45 for children aged 6 to 12, with children under 6 free and reduced rates for certain nationalities. VFS Global’s UAE page lists the amounts in dirhams, so check it before you pay.

## Documents for a tourist visa

The official 2026 Cyprus tourism checklist lists these items, all in English.

- **Application form and photographs:** signed by you in person, with two white background photographs of 4.5 by 3.5 cm, not older than six months.

- **Passport:** original, valid for at least six months from the intended entry date, with at least two blank pages, and copies of the personal data pages and UAE residence visa.

- **UAE residence:** you must have lived in the UAE for at least three months, and your residence visa must be valid for three months from your intended arrival in Cyprus.

- **Employer letter:** an NOC or salary certificate addressed to the Cyprus Embassy in Abu Dhabi, with the employer’s full name, address and landline, your position, salary and recruitment date, originally signed and stamped, and not older than a month.

- **Business owners and dependants:** a company letter and trade licence copy, or a sponsor’s NOC with the sponsor’s documents.

- **Bank statements:** for the past three months, reflecting your last three salaries. The Embassy says statements must not be older than three months.

- **Flights and hotel:** a round trip reservation and accommodation proof. The Embassy says tickets should show a date at least 18 to 20 working days after submission, and advises against buying tickets before the visa is issued.

- **Travel insurance:** a certificate covering the whole stay with minimum cover of 30,000 euros. Insurance card copies are not accepted.

The checklist adds that the Embassy may ask for more documents, such as a bank guarantee, and that submitting the listed documents does not mean the visa will be issued. A visa also does not give an automatic right of entry, as border authorities can refuse entry.

## Common mistakes

- **Treating it as a Schengen visa.** It is valid for Cyprus only.

- **An employer letter with the wrong addressee.** It must be addressed to the Cyprus Embassy in Abu Dhabi.

- **Old bank statements.** The Embassy says not older than three months.

- **Buying tickets too early.** Wait for the visa.

- **Insurance card instead of a certificate.** Cards are not accepted.

- **Searching only for a “Pro Visa”.** The UAE route is the VFS Global short stay visa.

## How Visa Doctor helps

Visa Doctor is a licensed Dubai visa documentation and appointment agency. We are not an embassy, consulate or visa centre. For Cyprus we check whether you need a visa at all, prepare the file against the current checklist, and help you book your VFS Global appointment. We cannot promise an outcome, and the Embassy decides every application. See our [Cyprus visa from Dubai](/country-post/cyprus/) page, our [appointment booking service](/visa-appointment-booking-dubai/) or our [visa services in Dubai](/visa-services-dubai/).

## Sources and last checked

Last checked: October 2026, against the Embassy of the Republic of Cyprus in Abu Dhabi visa information and working hours pages, the official Cyprus tourism checklist for 2026, and the Cyprus government visas page on gov.cy. We could not verify the VFS Global opening hours or confirm a Pro Visa for UAE applicants, so check the Embassy and VFS Global pages directly.

This guide is part of our [embassies, consulates and visa centres in Dubai and Abu Dhabi hub](/embassies-consulates-visa-centres-dubai-abu-dhabi-guide/), which lists every country guide in one place.
