## How do I get a US visa from Dubai in 2026?

**UAE residents apply for the US B1/B2 visitor visa: complete the DS-160 on ceac.state.gov, pay the USD 185 fee, book an interview through the official scheduling system for the US Consulate General in Dubai or the US Embassy in Abu Dhabi, and attend in person.** The hard part in 2026 is the wait, not the paperwork. B1/B2 appointments are available in Abu Dhabi and Dubai, and on 17 September 2026 the US Department of State published the next available B1/B2 interview at about 11.5 months in Dubai and 12.5 months in Abu Dhabi.

Last checked: 25 September 2026, against ae.usembassy.gov and travel.state.gov.

Is the US Consulate in Dubai open for visas? |
Yes, the Consulate in Dubai and the Embassy in Abu Dhabi are open, and B1/B2 appointments are available. New appointments are released every Friday morning with occasional extra releases, and UAE residents can book them. You can also apply in your home country. The interview waiver (dropbox) is not available to most applicants at present, so most applicants need an interview. We prepare your DS-160 and file and book the earliest available slot. |

Both posts release nonimmigrant interview appointments every Friday morning between 7:30 and 11:30, and anyone who already holds an appointment can log in at any time to move to an earlier one. Students and urgent travellers can also use the [expedited appointment request](https://visadoctor.ae/us-visa-expedited-appointment-dubai/). The Mission tells nonimmigrant applicants to book in their country of residence or nationality, so a UAE resident may apply here, and a resident with another passport may also apply in their home country.

Separately, Presidential Proclamation 10998, in force since 1 January 2026, suspends or limits visa issuance for nationals of 39 countries. People it covers can still apply and attend an interview, but may not be issued a visa. If your passport qualifies for the Visa Waiver Program, you may be able to travel on [ESTA instead of a B1/B2 visa](https://visadoctor.ae/esta-vs-b1-b2-visa-uae-residents/). Visa Doctor completes the DS-160 with you, books the earliest interview date we can reach and prepares your file. The decision belongs to the consular officer.

## Preparing for your US visa interview in Dubai or Abu Dhabi

**The interview is short, but it decides the application.** The officer wants to see that your trip has a clear purpose and that you have strong reasons to return to the UAE afterwards.

- Make sure every answer on your DS-160 matches your documents. Inconsistencies are the most avoidable problem.

- Bring proof of your ties to the UAE: your residence visa, an employer letter stating your role, salary and approved leave, or your trade licence if you run a business, plus family or property ties.

- Bring bank statements that comfortably cover the trip and show a steady history, not a large deposit made just before applying.

- Be ready to explain your itinerary, your job and who is paying, in a few plain sentences.

If the visa is issued, the officer decides how long it is valid for and whether it allows multiple entries. The length of each stay is set separately by the US border officer when you arrive. Our [US visa interview preparation guide](https://visadoctor.ae/us-visa-interview-preparation-dubai/) covers common questions in detail.

## US visa appointment in Dubai: how booking works

A US visa appointment in the UAE is booked only through the official scheduling system. There is no paid queue and no separate appointment channel. The order matters, because each step needs the one before it.

- **Complete the DS-160** on ceac.state.gov and save the confirmation page with its barcode. Every answer must match your passport and documents.

- **Create your profile** on the GSS system (ustraveldocs.com/ae, which hands over to usvisascheduling.com) and enter your DS-160 confirmation number.

- **Pay the USD 185 fee** for B1/B2, F, J and most other non-petition visas. It is non-refundable and non-transferable, so check that the UAE is the right place to apply before you pay.

- **Choose the post.** Compare the US Consulate General in Dubai and the US Embassy in Abu Dhabi. On 17 September 2026 the B1/B2 waits were close, but for students Abu Dhabi was far shorter.

- **Book the interview** from the dates offered. New dates are released every Friday between 7:30 and 11:30 UAE time. Keep your booking and look for an earlier date, because existing appointment holders can reschedule to an earlier slot at any time. Our step by step guide on [how to reschedule a US visa appointment in Dubai](https://visadoctor.ae/us-visa-appointment-reschedule-dubai/) covers the official rules.

- **Attend on time** with your passport, DS-160 confirmation, appointment letter and supporting documents in a folder.

**Before you go to the Consulate in Dubai.** The Consulate asks applicants not to arrive more than 15 minutes before the appointment. Bags of any size, including handbags, and electronics such as laptops, phones, smart watches and tablets are not allowed in, so leave them in the car. Only applicants with a scheduled appointment may enter, with a few exceptions such as a parent of a minor applicant.

**If your case is urgent**, book the first available date first, then submit an expedite request with evidence. See our [urgent US visa from Dubai](https://visadoctor.ae/urgent-usa-visa-dubai/) guide for what counts as urgent.

## US visa documents for UAE residents, by profile

The officer mainly wants two answers: why you are going, and what brings you back to the UAE. The core documents are the same for everyone, and the supporting evidence changes with your situation.

**Everyone:** passport valid for at least six months beyond your stay, any old passports with US visas, DS-160 confirmation, appointment confirmation, one 5 cm x 5 cm photo on a white background if requested, UAE residence visa and Emirates ID.

Your situation |
Evidence that usually shows purpose and ties |

Employee |
Employer letter with your role, salary, start date and approved leave; recent salary slips; bank statements showing salary credits |

Business owner or investor |
Trade licence, memorandum or share certificate, company bank statements and personal bank statements |

Freelancer or self-employed |
Freelance permit or licence, client contracts or invoices, bank statements showing regular income |

Student in the UAE |
Enrolment letter, student ID, sponsor letter and the sponsor bank statements; for study in the US see our [US student visa guide](https://visadoctor.ae/us-student-visa-dubai/) |

Spouse or child on a family visa |
Marriage or birth certificate, the sponsor employment letter and bank statements, the sponsor residence visa copy |

Parent visiting family in the US |
Invitation letter from the host, the host proof of US status, your own income or pension evidence and property or family ties |

Business travellers should add an invitation letter from the US company or event. Anyone with a previous refusal should be ready to explain what has changed since then.

## Why US visas are refused for UAE residents

- **Section 214(b):** the officer is not satisfied that you are a genuine visitor who will return. It is the most common refusal. Read [what a 214(b) refusal means](https://visadoctor.ae/us-visa-214b-refusal-explained-dubai/).

- **Section 221(g):** the case is on hold for more documents or administrative processing. It is not a final refusal. See [221(g) explained](https://visadoctor.ae/us-221g-refusal-explained-dubai/).

- **Answers that do not match the DS-160** or your documents, such as a different job title, salary or travel history.

- **A weak link to the UAE**, for example a very new job, a residence visa close to expiry or funds that arrived just before applying.

- **An unclear trip**: no clear purpose, no plan for who pays, or a stay that does not fit your leave.

Nobody can influence the officer. What helps is a file that answers these questions before they are asked, and interview preparation. Our [US visa interview preparation guide](https://visadoctor.ae/us-visa-interview-preparation-dubai/) covers the common questions.

## Frequently Asked Questions, US Visa from Dubai

**Is the US Consulate in Dubai open for visas?**

Yes. The US Consulate General in Dubai and the US Embassy in Abu Dhabi are open, and B1/B2 appointments are available. UAE residents can book there, and new slots are released on Friday mornings. The interview waiver (dropbox) is not available to most applicants at present, so most applicants need an interview. Students and urgent travellers can ask for an expedited appointment with evidence, and you can also apply in your home country. Our US Consulate Dubai status page tracks the current position.

**How can I get a US tourist visa from Dubai?**

Apply for the B1/B2 visitor visa: fill in the DS-160 on ceac.state.gov, pay the USD 185 fee and book an interview through the official scheduling system at the US Consulate General in Dubai or the US Embassy in Abu Dhabi. At the interview, show that your trip has a clear purpose and that you will return to the UAE. The consular officer makes the decision.

**How do I book a US visa appointment in Dubai?**

Complete the DS-160, create a profile on the official GSS system (ustraveldocs.com/ae and usvisascheduling.com), pay the USD 185 fee and choose a date at Dubai or Abu Dhabi. New dates are released every Friday between 7:30 and 11:30 UAE time, and you can move to an earlier date at any time once you hold a booking.

**How long is the wait for a USA visit visa from Dubai?**

On 17 September 2026 the US Department of State published the next available B1/B2 interview at about 11.5 months in Dubai and 12.5 months in Abu Dhabi. New slots are released every Friday morning, and people with an existing appointment can look for an earlier one at any time. Through Visa Doctor’s appointment service, appointments are available from 7 working days because we watch those releases.

**How much is a US visa from Dubai?**

The US government application fee for a B1/B2 visitor visa is USD 185 and it is not refundable, whatever the outcome. Check the official fee page on travel.state.gov before you pay, as fees can change.

**Can I apply for a US visa in another country instead of the UAE?**

The US Mission tells nonimmigrant applicants to book in their country of residence or nationality. A UAE resident can apply in the UAE, or in the country of their passport. Choosing a third country only because its calendar is shorter is not an option for most applicants.

**Can I renew my US visa in Dubai without an interview?**

Only if you meet the interview waiver rules in force since 1 October 2025: the same category, a full validity visa that expired within the last 12 months, issued when you were 18 or older, and no refusal since. The dropbox is not a way around the current UAE restrictions. See our [US visa dropbox guide](https://visadoctor.ae/us-visa-dropbox-uae-2026/) and our [US visa renewal page](https://visadoctor.ae/us-visa-renewal-dubai/).

**Can I get a 10-year US visa from Dubai?**

Many nationalities can receive a 10-year multiple entry B1/B2 visa, but the validity follows US reciprocity rules for your nationality and the officer decides what to issue. The length of each stay is set by the US border officer when you arrive.

**Do Indian citizens in Dubai need a US visa?**

Yes. India is not in the Visa Waiver Program, so Indian passport holders need a B1/B2 visa and cannot use ESTA. An Indian resident of the UAE can apply in the UAE or in India. Our [US visa guide for Indians in Dubai](https://visadoctor.ae/indian-citizens-us-visa-from-dubai/) covers the documents and the options.

**What happens if you cannot book my appointment in the agreed time?**

If we agree in writing to book your appointment within a stated time frame and we do not secure it within that time, or the appointment is not made at all, we refund our service fee in full. The refund is tied to scheduling only. It never depends on the visa decision, which belongs to the embassy or consulate, and government and visa centre fees are paid to those bodies, not to us.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I applied for shengen visa in April 2026. Working with Barlas was a big pleasure and absence of any issues or problems. He prepared all documents and answered millions of my questions. He recommended me Swiss embassy instead of Italy showing that he has a deep understanding of the situation now. Got my visa in 2 weeks, unfortunately for 1 entry only but it’s something the company can’t influence. Fully recommend

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Bar, I honestly don’t even know where to start — this was such a different experience from anything I’ve had before with visa agencies.

From the very first moment, you were there. I called, you picked up immediately, and within minutes after our conversation you had already sent me all the available appointment slots and clearly explained which country would give me the best chances. Everything felt structured, transparent, and under control — no stress, no anxiety on my side at all.

You handled the entire process end-to-end: guided me through every document, helped me prepare everything properly, and even wrote incredibly strong cover letters that made a real difference. I truly felt that you did everything possible to maximize my chances of getting a one-year visa.

But beyond the professionalism, what really stood out is how easy it was to communicate with you. You’re positive, responsive, and genuinely supportive. You were always available, even outside working hours — which I really appreciate (and sorry for messaging you then 🙈).

I’ve worked with visa agencies many times before, and honestly, most of the experiences were frustrating — agents disappearing, not replying for days, leaving me stressed and unsure. This is the first time I’ve had such a smooth, reliable, and genuinely positive experience.

I know my profile and documents were strong, but I’m absolutely sure that without your help, my chances of getting a one-year Schengen visa — especially on my first application from the UAE — would have been much lower.

Thank you so much, Bar. I truly appreciate your work and your attitude. I will wholeheartedly recommend you to anyone who needs help with a visa.
