## How to get a UK visa from Dubai and the UAE

**Most UAE residents apply for a UK Standard Visitor visa online on GOV.UK, pay the £135 fee, then give fingerprints and a photo at the UK visa application centre run by VFS Global in Dubai or Abu Dhabi.** GOV.UK publishes a standard of 3 weeks for a decision, counted from your appointment, and successful applicants now receive an eVisa instead of a sticker in the passport.

Whether you need a visa depends on your passport, not your UAE residence. Emirati citizens do not need a visitor visa: they apply for an electronic travel authorisation (ETA). Many other nationalities living in the UAE need a Standard Visitor visa for tourism, family visits or business meetings. Check your passport on [GOV.UK](https://www.gov.uk/check-uk-visa) or in our guide to [which nationalities need a UK visa](https://visadoctor.ae/which-nationalities-need-uk-visa-2026/).

- Apply online on GOV.UK, no earlier than 3 months before you travel.

- Pay the visa fee, then book an appointment at VFS Global in Dubai or Abu Dhabi. You can only book once you have applied.

- Attend with your passport and supporting documents. You get your passport back on the same day.

- Wait for the decision by email, then check your eVisa in your UKVI account before you fly.

Visa Doctor prepares and checks your file and books the appointment. The decision belongs to UKVI.

## UK visitor visa fees and decision times in 2026

**A 6-month UK Standard Visitor visa costs £135.** If you visit the UK often, you can apply for a long-term visitor visa instead. Each visit is still limited to 6 months.

Visa |

£135 |
6 months |

Standard Visitor visa for medical reasons |

5-year long-term Standard Visitor visa |
£903 |
6 months per visit |

10-year long-term Standard Visitor visa |
£1,128 |

UKVI may give you a shorter visa than the one you asked for, and the fee is not refunded if that happens or if the application is refused.

GOV.UK says you will usually get a decision in about 3 weeks, counted from when you have applied online, proved your identity and provided your documents. Where it is offered, the priority service costs £500 extra and usually gives a decision in about 5 working days, and super priority costs £1,000 extra and usually gives a decision by the end of the next working day. Neither service changes how your application is assessed, and the wait for an appointment comes on top. Our [UK priority and super priority visa guide](https://visadoctor.ae/uk-priority-visa-dubai/) explains both services for applicants in Dubai and Abu Dhabi. Our [urgent UK visa guide](https://visadoctor.ae/urgent-uk-visa-dubai/) explains when paying for speed makes sense.

Weak proof of funds, an unclear reason for the trip and documents that do not match each other are the most common reasons UK visitor applications run into trouble. A file that clearly shows your ties to the UAE and a realistic travel plan gives the caseworker nothing to query.

## UK eVisa for visitors since 1 July 2026

**Since 1 July 2026, UKVI no longer puts a visa sticker in the passport of successful new applicants.** You receive an eVisa, a digital record of your permission that you view in your UKVI account. A sticker visa you already hold stays valid until it expires.

Before you travel, sign in to your UKVI account and check that your details are correct and that the passport you will travel on is linked to it. Our [UK eVisa guide](https://visadoctor.ae/uk-evisa-explained/) explains the account step by step.

## UK visa appointment in Dubai: how it works

A UK visa appointment in Dubai or Abu Dhabi is a biometrics appointment at the VFS Global centre, booked only after you have submitted the online application on GOV.UK and paid the fee. There is no separate consulate interview for a normal visitor application.

- **Submit the online application** on GOV.UK and pay the fee. Choose the UAE as the place where you will prove your identity.

- **Book the VFS Global appointment** through the link in your application: Dubai (Wafi Mall) or Abu Dhabi (The Mall, World Trade Centre).

- **Upload or bring your documents** as instructed. Documents in a language other than English or Welsh need a certified translation.

- **Attend the appointment** with your passport. Your fingerprints and photo are taken, and the 3 week processing time starts from this day.

- **Keep your passport.** GOV.UK says you get it back on the same day, because successful applicants now receive an eVisa.

If you cannot find a suitable slot, check both centres and look again regularly, because new appointments are added. A faster decision service shortens the decision, not the wait for an appointment. Our [urgent UK visa guide](https://visadoctor.ae/urgent-uk-visa-dubai/) explains priority and super priority, and our [UK visit visa processing time](https://visadoctor.ae/uk-visa-processing-times-uae/) page shows the official figures.

## UK visa for first-time applicants from the UAE

A first application carries more weight on the documents, because there is no UK travel history to lean on. Caseworkers look for three things: a clear reason for the trip, enough money to pay for it without strain, and a life in the UAE you will return to.

Your situation |
Evidence that usually shows funds and ties |

Employee |
Employer letter with role, salary, start date and approved leave; 6 months of bank statements with salary credits |

Business owner |
Trade licence, proof of ownership, company and personal bank statements |

Freelancer or self-employed |
Licence or freelance permit, contracts or invoices, bank statements showing regular income |

Spouse or child on a family visa |
Relationship certificate, the sponsor employment letter and bank statements, sponsor residence visa |

Visiting family in the UK |
Invitation letter, the host’s proof of status and address, and your own funds or the host’s support evidence |

Student in the UAE |
Enrolment letter, sponsor letter and the sponsor bank statements |

Previous travel to the UK, the US, Canada or the Schengen area helps, so include copies of old visas. Our [UK visa documents and financial requirements](https://visadoctor.ae/uk-visa-documents-financial-requirements-dubai/) and [UK bank statement](https://visadoctor.ae/uk-visa-bank-statement-requirements-dubai/) guides go into detail.

## Common reasons UK visit visas are refused

- **Funds that do not add up:** large deposits just before applying, or a balance that does not match the salary.

- **Doubt that you will leave the UK** at the end of the visit, often because ties to the UAE are not shown.

- **An unclear or inconsistent purpose**, such as dates or a host that differ between the form and the documents.

- **Undeclared history**, for example a previous refusal from any country not mentioned on the form.

A refusal letter explains the reasons. Read [UK visitor visa refusal reasons](https://visadoctor.ae/uk-visitor-visa-refusal-reasons-uae/) and [how to reapply after a refusal](https://visadoctor.ae/uk-visit-visa-refused-dubai-reasons-reapply/).

## Frequently Asked Questions, UK Visa from Dubai

**How do I get a UK visa from Dubai?**

Apply online for a Standard Visitor visa on GOV.UK, pay the £135 fee and book an appointment at VFS Global in Dubai or Abu Dhabi. Bring your passport and documents that show your funds, your ties to the UAE and your travel plans. GOV.UK publishes a standard of 3 weeks for a decision, counted from your appointment.

**How do I book a UK visa appointment in Dubai?**

Submit your online application on GOV.UK first, then book a biometrics appointment at the VFS Global centre in Dubai (Wafi Mall) or Abu Dhabi (The Mall, World Trade Centre) through the link in your application. You cannot book before you have applied.

**How long does a UK visit visa from Dubai take?**

GOV.UK says you will usually get a decision in about 3 weeks once you have applied, attended your appointment and provided your documents. Where they are offered, priority (£500 extra) usually gives a decision in about 5 working days and super priority (£1,000 extra) by the end of the next working day. Allow extra time for the appointment itself. We recommend applying at least 4 to 6 weeks before your travel date.

**Can I use a UK Standard Visitor visa for business trips?**

Yes. The UK Standard Visitor Visa covers short-term business activities such as meetings and conferences, in addition to tourism, so most UAE-based business travellers do not need a separate business visa category.

**Can I get a 10-year UK visa from Dubai?**

Yes. A 10-year multiple entry Standard Visitor Visa is available and allows unlimited visits to the UK, each for up to 6 months. The fee is £1,128. UKVI may issue a shorter visa than the one you ask for, and the fee is not refunded if it does.

**What is the bank balance required for a UK visa from Dubai?**

There is no official minimum amount, but UKVI looks for evidence that you can comfortably cover all your costs in the UK. The amount varies depending on your planned length of stay and accommodation arrangements.

**Where is the UK visa application centre in Dubai?**

The UK visa application centre in Dubai is run by VFS Global at Wafi Mall, 3rd Floor, Falcon, Phase 2, Umm Hurair 2. There is a second VFS Global centre in Abu Dhabi at The Mall, World Trade Centre. You book your appointment after you have completed your online application on GOV.UK.

**Do UAE citizens need a UK visa?**

No. Emirati citizens apply for a UK electronic travel authorisation (ETA), which costs £20, instead of a visitor visa. Other nationalities living in the UAE follow the rules for their own passport. See [UK ETA or visa for GCC nationals](https://visadoctor.ae/gcc-nationals-uk-eta-vs-visa/).

**Will I get a sticker in my passport?**

Not if you applied successfully after 1 July 2026. You receive an eVisa, a digital record you view in your UKVI account, and you get your passport back at the appointment. A sticker visa you already hold stays valid until it expires. Our [UK eVisa guide](https://visadoctor.ae/uk-evisa-explained/) explains the account.

**What happens if you cannot book my appointment in the agreed time?**

If we agree in writing to book your appointment within a stated time frame and we do not secure it within that time, or the appointment is not made at all, we refund our service fee in full. The refund is tied to scheduling only. It never depends on the visa decision, which belongs to the embassy or consulate, and government and visa centre fees are paid to those bodies, not to us.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I applied for shengen visa in April 2026. Working with Barlas was a big pleasure and absence of any issues or problems. He prepared all documents and answered millions of my questions. He recommended me Swiss embassy instead of Italy showing that he has a deep understanding of the situation now. Got my visa in 2 weeks, unfortunately for 1 entry only but it’s something the company can’t influence. Fully recommend

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Bar, I honestly don’t even know where to start — this was such a different experience from anything I’ve had before with visa agencies.

From the very first moment, you were there. I called, you picked up immediately, and within minutes after our conversation you had already sent me all the available appointment slots and clearly explained which country would give me the best chances. Everything felt structured, transparent, and under control — no stress, no anxiety on my side at all.

You handled the entire process end-to-end: guided me through every document, helped me prepare everything properly, and even wrote incredibly strong cover letters that made a real difference. I truly felt that you did everything possible to maximize my chances of getting a one-year visa.

But beyond the professionalism, what really stood out is how easy it was to communicate with you. You’re positive, responsive, and genuinely supportive. You were always available, even outside working hours — which I really appreciate (and sorry for messaging you then 🙈).

I’ve worked with visa agencies many times before, and honestly, most of the experiences were frustrating — agents disappearing, not replying for days, leaving me stressed and unsure. This is the first time I’ve had such a smooth, reliable, and genuinely positive experience.

I know my profile and documents were strong, but I’m absolutely sure that without your help, my chances of getting a one-year Schengen visa — especially on my first application from the UAE — would have been much lower.

Thank you so much, Bar. I truly appreciate your work and your attitude. I will wholeheartedly recommend you to anyone who needs help with a visa.
