# France Visa Appointment from Dubai and Abu Dhabi (2026)

**Short answer:** UAE residents book a France visa appointment online with VFS Global and attend the France Visa Application Centre in Abu Dhabi, the only France centre in the UAE. Complete the application on France-Visas first, then book and pay the VFS service fee of EUR 30.33. France asks you to secure the appointment at least 3 months before departure.

Last checked: 25 September 2026, against [France-Visas (United Arab Emirates)](https://france-visas.gouv.fr/en/emirats-arabes-unis).

**A France visa appointment for UAE residents is booked online with VFS Global, and every applicant attends the France Visa Application Centre in Abu Dhabi, the only France centre in the UAE. There is no France visa centre in Dubai.** You first complete the application on [France-Visas](https://france-visas.gouv.fr/en/emirats-arabes-unis), then book the VFS appointment and pay the VFS service fee of EUR 30.33 online. France asks short-stay applicants to secure the appointment at least 3 months before departure, and no application can be lodged more than 6 months ahead. The consular section of the French Embassy in Abu Dhabi examines every application from the Emirates, including Dubai and the Northern Emirates.

This page covers the appointment first, because that is where most Dubai applicants get stuck, and then the fees, documents by profile, processing time and refusal reasons. Everything was checked against the French and EU official pages on 25 September 2026.

## How to book a France visa appointment in the UAE, step by step

- **Check France is your main destination.** Apply to France only if it is where you spend the most nights, or the first Schengen country you enter when nights are equal.

- **Complete the application on France-Visas.** Create an account on [france-visas.gouv.fr](https://france-visas.gouv.fr/), answer the questions, and print the completed form and the document list it generates. France-Visas notes that the application is not finished until you lodge the printed form with your documents at VFS.

- **Book one appointment per person** on the [VFS Global France UAE booking page](https://visa.vfsglobal.com/are/en/fra/book-an-appointment). Every family member needs an individual appointment. Pay the EUR 30.33 service fee online and give an email address you can access, because the confirmation letter arrives there.

- **Print the appointment confirmation letter.** The centre asks for it at the entrance.

- **Attend the Abu Dhabi centre about 10 minutes early** with the file in the same order as the checklist, the printed form and the means to pay the visa fee. Only applicants may enter, except a companion of a child aged 12 to 18, a companion of a person with reduced mobility, or someone the consulate has authorised. Phones and other electronic devices are not allowed inside.

- **Give fingerprints and a photo,** unless you are exempt. Children under 12 do not attend: a parent lodges their application. Applicants who hold a visa marked “VIS” issued within the last 59 months are also exempt from appearing.

- **Track the application** with the reference on your VFS receipt, and collect the passport in Abu Dhabi or choose courier return.

Rescheduling and cancelling: VFS allows one reschedule up to 2 days before the appointment, subject to availability, and cancellation up to 3 days before. Any further change counts as a new booking with a new service charge.

## No France appointments showing? What actually works

France runs one centre for the whole UAE, for one of the most requested Schengen destinations, so the calendar fills quickly in summer and around school holidays. The consulate decides how many appointments exist. VFS only operates the centre, and no agency can create a slot. On 20 May 2026 VFS announced that the France centre had resumed normal operations and was accepting all visa categories again.

- **Use the whole 6-month window.** For a July trip to Paris, start looking in January. The applicants who struggle are almost always the ones who start six weeks out.

- **Check at varied times.** Cancelled and rescheduled slots return unpredictably. Checking at the same hour every day catches far less than checking early morning, midday and evening.

- **Be ready to drive to Abu Dhabi at short notice.** From Dubai it is roughly 90 minutes each way depending on traffic, so a cancellation slot only helps if you can take the day. If you cannot, book further ahead instead of chasing cancellations.

- **Have the file finished before you hunt.** A slot for the day after tomorrow is useless if your insurance, bank statements and leave letter are not ready.

- **Prime Time appointments** are an official VFS option that lets you submit outside normal working hours, selected when you book. They are about timing, not priority in the decision.

- **Visa At Your Doorstep** is an official VFS service in which a team collects your application and biometrics at your home or office. VFS lists it at EUR 150 per person for 1 to 3 people, EUR 100 each for 4 to 10 and EUR 80 each for 11 or more, excluding the VFS service fee, and states that it does not change processing times or the decision.

- **Genuine emergencies.** The EU Visa Code lets a consulate accept an application without an appointment, or give one immediately, in justified cases of urgency. You contact the consulate with evidence; it is at the consulate’s discretion.

- **Do not switch countries just because another one has slots.** Applying to a consulate that is not your main destination is a common reason for refusal. More options are in [no Schengen appointments available in Dubai](https://visadoctor.ae/no-schengen-appointments-available-dubai/).

Do not book non-refundable flights before you hold a confirmed appointment. We regularly see families book July flights and then find the earliest France appointment is in September.

## What is a France Schengen visa?

A France Schengen visa is the uniform short-stay visa (type C). It lets you visit France, and travel on to the other 28 Schengen states, for up to 90 days in any 180-day period for tourism, business or family visits. UAE citizens do not need one for short stays. Most expatriates living in the UAE do, depending on their nationality.

### Types of France visas UAE residents apply for

- **Tourist or private visit:** holidays and visits to family or friends.

- **Business:** meetings, conferences and trade fairs, with an invitation from the French company or organiser.

- **Long-stay national visa (type D):** study, work or family reunification for more than 90 days. France asks long-stay applicants to book about 2 months before departure.

- **Airport transit visa:** required only for certain nationalities changing planes in France.

## France visa documents checklist for UAE residents, by profile

The France checklist for your visa category is the final word, and missions update it without notice. This table is the standard Schengen file that UAE residents submit, arranged by who you are, so you can see what applies to you before you book.

Your profile |
What to prepare |

Every applicant |
Passport issued in the last 10 years, valid at least 3 months after you leave the Schengen area, with 2 blank pages; the France-Visas application form, printed and signed; one recent ICAO standard photo; UAE residence visa and Emirates ID; travel medical insurance of at least EUR 30,000 valid for the whole Schengen area and the whole trip; flight reservation and hotel booking (or an invitation letter); personal bank statements for the period your checklist states, stamped by the bank; a cover letter explaining the trip. |

Employed |
Employer NOC or salary certificate on company letterhead stating your position, salary, start date and approved leave dates, signed with the signatory’s full name and position; recent payslips if your checklist asks for them; the bank statement should show the salary arriving each month. |

Business owner or self-employed |
UAE trade licence, proof that you own or partly own the company (for example the memorandum of association or partner list), company bank statements and your personal bank statements; a letter on company letterhead explaining the trip. |

Dependant spouse or child (sponsored) |
Sponsor’s NOC with a copy of the sponsor’s passport and UAE residence visa, the sponsor’s employment letter or trade licence, the sponsor’s bank statements, and the marriage or birth certificate. Children under 18 need consent from both parents, and a parent who is not travelling signs an authorisation. |

Children |
Birth certificate and consent from both parents. Under-12s do not attend the centre; a parent lodges the application. |

## France visa processing time from the UAE

VFS Global tells France applicants to expect about 15 working days for a short-stay decision, and longer in some cases. The EU rule behind it is 15 calendar days from a complete application, extendable up to 45 days when the consulate needs to look further or asks for more documents. The consulate keeps your passport until it decides, so do not apply with a trip in the next few weeks.

Build the timeline backwards from your flight: decision time, plus the appointment wait, plus a margin in case you are asked for another document. That is why France asks for the appointment at least 3 months before departure. More on timing in [how long a Schengen visa takes from Dubai](https://visadoctor.ae/schengen-visa-processing-time-dubai/).

## Common France visa refusal reasons and how to fix them

The grounds for refusing a Schengen visa are the same for every member state and are listed in Article 32 of the EU Visa Code. The refusal letter ticks the ground that applied and explains how to appeal. These are the ones we see most often in UAE files, and what prevents each one.

Refusal ground |
What usually causes it |
How to fix it before you apply |

The purpose and conditions of the trip were not justified |
Dates, bookings, leave letter and cover letter tell different stories, or the itinerary is vague. |
Make every document show the same dates and the same route, and explain the trip in a short cover letter. |

Not enough means of subsistence |
Low balance, or a large unexplained deposit just before applying. |
Show a steady balance built from salary or business income over several months, and explain any large transfer. |

Doubts about your intention to leave before the visa expires |
Weak ties to the UAE: short residence validity, no job letter, no approved leave. |
Include the employer letter with approved leave, a residence visa valid well beyond your return, and proof of family or property ties. |

Doubts about documents or statements |
A reservation that cannot be verified, a statement that does not match the salary letter. |
Submit genuine, checkable documents and keep figures consistent across every page. |

No adequate travel medical insurance |
Cover below EUR 30,000, not valid across the Schengen area, or shorter than the trip. |
Buy a policy that meets the EU minimum and covers every day of the stay. |

You have already used 90 days in the current 180-day period |
Previous trips add up to the limit. |
Count your days with our [90/180 calculator](https://visadoctor.ae/schengen-90-180-day-calculator/) before you choose dates. |

Applying to the wrong country is a separate problem: you must apply to your main destination, the country where you spend the most nights, or the country you enter first if the nights are equal. See [the main destination rule](https://visadoctor.ae/schengen-main-destination-rule-dubai/). If you have already been refused, read [appeal or reapply after a Schengen refusal](https://visadoctor.ae/schengen-visa-refused-appeal-or-reapply-dubai/).

## How Visa Doctor helps with your France visa

- **Right country, right centre.** We confirm that France is genuinely your main destination and that you are booking the centre that covers the emirate on your residence visa.

- **Documents selected and reviewed.** We build your file against the current checklist for your profile, check every date and figure for consistency, and flag gaps before the appointment, not at the counter.

- **Forms completed.** We fill the online application form with you and prepare the printed copy you take to the centre.

- **Appointment booked.** We book the appointment in the official system and keep watching for earlier slots that fit your dates.

- **Cover letter written.** A short, specific letter that explains who you are, why you are travelling and why you will return.

- **Flight and hotel reservations** for the visa file, matched to your itinerary.

- **Briefing before the appointment,** so you know what to bring and what happens at the centre.

What we do not do: we do not sell appointments, we do not influence the decision, and we never promise approval. The consulate decides every application. Your first consultation is free, and we tell you honestly whether your travel date is realistic before you pay anything.

## France visa appointment: frequently asked questions

### Is there a France visa application centre in Dubai?

No. VFS Global lists a single France Visa Application Centre in the UAE, in Abu Dhabi, and France-Visas directs residents of Dubai and the Northern Emirates there. Dubai residents drive to Abu Dhabi for the appointment.

### How do I book a France visa appointment from Dubai?

Complete the application on France-Visas, print it, then book an appointment for each applicant on the VFS Global France UAE website and pay the EUR 30.33 service fee online. Print the confirmation letter and attend the Abu Dhabi centre with your full file.

### How early should I book my France visa appointment?

France asks short-stay applicants to get their appointment at least 3 months before departure, and applications cannot be lodged more than 6 months ahead. The EU minimum is 15 days before travel, but that is far too late in practice.

### How much is the France visa fee from the UAE?

EUR 90 for adults and EUR 45 for children aged 6 to under 12, paid in UAE dirhams at the consulate rate. Children under 6 pay no visa fee. VFS Global adds a service fee of EUR 30.33 per applicant, paid online when you book. Neither is refunded if the visa is refused.

### How long does a France visa take from Abu Dhabi?

VFS Global states about 15 working days for a short stay. Under EU rules the consulate decides within 15 calendar days, which can be extended to 45 days in individual cases.

### What can I do if there are no France appointments?

Look across the full 6-month window, check at different times of day for cancellations, keep your file ready, and consider the official Prime Time and Visa At Your Doorstep services. In a genuine emergency, contact the consulate with evidence. Do not apply to another country unless it is your real main destination.

### Can I reschedule or cancel a France VFS appointment?

VFS allows one reschedule up to 2 days before the appointment, subject to availability, and cancellation up to 3 days before. A further change is treated as a new booking with a new service charge.

### Do my children need to attend the France appointment?

Children under 12 do not give fingerprints, and France-Visas says a parent or legal guardian lodges their application. Children aged 12 to 18 attend, and one companion may enter with them.

### Do I need to give fingerprints again?

Not if you hold a visa marked VIS issued within the last 59 months; France-Visas exempts you from appearing in person. Otherwise you give fingerprints and a photo at the centre.

### Can Visa Doctor get me an earlier France appointment?

We book in the same official VFS system as everyone else and keep checking for earlier slots that fit your dates. We cannot create appointments, and paid premium services do not create them either. What we do is make sure your file is complete so you can take a slot the moment one appears.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I applied for shengen visa in April 2026. Working with Barlas was a big pleasure and absence of any issues or problems. He prepared all documents and answered millions of my questions. He recommended me Swiss embassy instead of Italy showing that he has a deep understanding of the situation now. Got my visa in 2 weeks, unfortunately for 1 entry only but it’s something the company can’t influence. Fully recommend

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Bar, I honestly don’t even know where to start — this was such a different experience from anything I’ve had before with visa agencies.

From the very first moment, you were there. I called, you picked up immediately, and within minutes after our conversation you had already sent me all the available appointment slots and clearly explained which country would give me the best chances. Everything felt structured, transparent, and under control — no stress, no anxiety on my side at all.

You handled the entire process end-to-end: guided me through every document, helped me prepare everything properly, and even wrote incredibly strong cover letters that made a real difference. I truly felt that you did everything possible to maximize my chances of getting a one-year visa.

But beyond the professionalism, what really stood out is how easy it was to communicate with you. You’re positive, responsive, and genuinely supportive. You were always available, even outside working hours — which I really appreciate (and sorry for messaging you then 🙈).

I’ve worked with visa agencies many times before, and honestly, most of the experiences were frustrating — agents disappearing, not replying for days, leaving me stressed and unsure. This is the first time I’ve had such a smooth, reliable, and genuinely positive experience.

I know my profile and documents were strong, but I’m absolutely sure that without your help, my chances of getting a one-year Schengen visa — especially on my first application from the UAE — would have been much lower.

Thank you so much, Bar. I truly appreciate your work and your attitude. I will wholeheartedly recommend you to anyone who needs help with a visa.
