**Quick answer:** There is no Australian Embassy in Dubai. The embassy is in Abu Dhabi, and Australia also has a Consulate-General in Dubai (BurJuman Business Tower, Bur Dubai), but the Dubai consulate no longer processes Australian visa applications. Visitor visas are applied for online through ImmiAccount with the Department of Home Affairs. If Home Affairs asks for biometrics, you provide them through the process named in your request, which in the UAE is usually a VFS Global biometrics collection centre or, for some applicants, the Australian Immi app. Visa Doctor prepares and checks your documents and can help with appointment booking, but we do not issue visas and cannot promise a decision.

## Australian Embassy Dubai: where the offices actually are

Many people search for the “Australian Embassy in Dubai” and expect to walk in with a passport and a form. That is not how Australian visas work from the UAE. Australia has two offices here, and neither is a visa counter for visitors.

### Australian Consulate-General, Dubai

The consulate is at Level 25, BurJuman Business Tower, Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Road, Mankhool, Bur Dubai. The phone number listed by the Australian Embassy in the UAE is +971 4 508 7100. The same contact page lists opening hours of Monday to Thursday 8:00 to 16:30 and Friday 8:00 to 13:30, and says that notarial and passport services are by appointment only. Hours can change around public holidays, so confirm before you travel.

### Australian Embassy, Abu Dhabi

The embassy is on the 16th Floor of the Nayel and Bin Harmal Tower, Zayed the First Street, Abu Dhabi, telephone +971 2 401 7500. The page we checked does not publish separate opening hours for the embassy. It describes the Dubai consulate as the office for people in the northern emirates and points visa enquirers to the Department of Home Affairs rather than to either office.

## What the embassy and consulate do not do for visa applicants

The embassy contact page states that the Department of Home Affairs at the Dubai Consulate-General no longer processes Australian visa applications. In practical terms:

- You cannot lodge a visitor visa application at the consulate in Dubai or at the embassy in Abu Dhabi.

- Embassy and consulate staff do not assess visa applications. Visa decisions are made by Home Affairs.

- Staff at visa application and biometrics centres are service providers. They do not have the authority to assess or approve an application.

- A visit to the consulate will not speed up an application that is already lodged online.

The consulate and embassy do help with passports, notarial services and consular support for Australian citizens, which is a different job from visas.

## How an Australian visitor visa application works for UAE residents

Most UAE residents who want to visit Australia as tourists or to see family apply for a Visitor visa (subclass 600). Always check the current requirements on the Home Affairs website, because streams, forms and evidence rules change. The usual sequence is:

- **Check which visa fits your passport and trip.** Use the Home Affairs visa finder. Some passports can use a different authority for short visits, and your nationality, not your UAE residence, decides this.

- **Create an ImmiAccount** and start the online application. Home Affairs encourages eligible applicants to apply online.

- **Upload your supporting documents,** answer the questions consistently with your documents, and pay the fee shown on the official form.

- **Provide biometrics only if asked.** Most applicants who apply online are told in writing if biometrics are needed. The letter explains how to provide them.

- **Wait for the decision and check your grant.** After a grant you can check your conditions in VEVO, the official online entitlement checker.

## Biometrics in the UAE: VFS Global or the Immi app

Home Affairs works with VFS Global for biometrics collection, and the UAE appears on VFS Global’s list of countries where this service is available. If you receive a biometrics request, follow the instructions in that request exactly. In some cases Home Affairs lets eligible applicants give biometrics through the Australian Immi app instead of visiting a centre, but only if your biometrics letter says so and your country is supported. If your letter does not offer the app, you attend a collection centre.

Book through the official VFS Global page for Australia in the UAE (visa.vfsglobal.com/are/en/aus) and the Home Affairs biometrics page, not through a search result that merely looks similar. Biometrics are a separate step from lodging the visa. Attending a centre does not mean your application has been approved or even decided.

## Dubai or Abu Dhabi: which office should you use?

- **For a visitor visa:** neither. Apply online through ImmiAccount.

- **For biometrics:** the location and method named in your Home Affairs request, normally through VFS Global in the UAE.

- **For Australian passport or notarial services:** the Dubai consulate, by appointment, or the Abu Dhabi embassy depending on where you live and what the embassy page says for your emirate.

## Documents UAE residents typically prepare

Home Affairs lists the exact evidence for each visa, and your case officer may ask for more. For a tourist or family visit, UAE residents commonly prepare:

- A passport with enough validity for the whole trip, plus copies of previous visas and stamps.

- Your UAE residence visa and Emirates ID, to show where you live and your status.

- Recent bank statements and proof of income, such as a salary certificate or employment letter, to show you can fund the trip.

- A day by day itinerary, accommodation details and flight plans.

- If you are visiting family or friends, an invitation or details of your host and proof of the relationship.

- Certified translations for any document that is not in English.

## What to bring to a biometrics appointment

- Your biometrics request letter or email, including the visa lodgement number it contains.

- Your original passport, the same one used in the application.

- Your appointment confirmation, if the provider issued one.

- Your Emirates ID, in case the centre asks for local identification.

Check the centre’s own page for rules on bags, phones and companions, which vary between providers.

## Common mistakes to avoid

- Turning up at the Dubai consulate or the Abu Dhabi embassy to apply for a visa. They do not take visitor visa applications.

- Paying a website for an “Australian embassy appointment”. There is no embassy appointment for a visitor visa.

- Using a lookalike site that is not the Home Affairs website, or paying a fee that is not shown on the official form.

- Answering questions on the form in a way that does not match your documents, for example a different job title or income.

- Ignoring a biometrics request. The application can stall until biometrics are provided.

- Submitting old bank statements or unexplained large deposits without a note.

## How Visa Doctor helps

Visa Doctor is a licensed Dubai visa documentation and appointment agency (licence 4417571.01). We are not the Australian Embassy, a visa application centre or a government body, and we cannot approve an Australian visa. What we do is practical: we check which visa and stream suits your passport and plans, build a clean evidence file with you, review your online form against your documents, and help with appointment booking where an appointment is part of the process. The decision always belongs to Home Affairs. ## Frequently asked questions

### Is there an Australian Embassy in Dubai?

No. The Australian Embassy is in Abu Dhabi. Dubai has an Australian Consulate-General at BurJuman Business Tower, which offers notarial and passport services by appointment but does not process visa applications.

### Can I apply for an Australian visa at the Dubai consulate?

No. The embassy contact page states that Home Affairs at the Dubai Consulate-General no longer processes Australian visa applications. Apply online through ImmiAccount.

### Do UAE residents need to give biometrics for Australia?

Only if Home Affairs asks. Many online applicants are told in writing whether biometrics are needed, and the request explains how to provide them, usually at a VFS Global collection centre or through the Immi app where you are eligible.

### Where do I book Australian biometrics in the UAE?

Use the official VFS Global page for Australia in the UAE and follow the instructions in your Home Affairs request. Do not book through unofficial sites.

### Do I apply in Dubai or Abu Dhabi if I live in Sharjah or Abu Dhabi?

For a visitor visa you apply online, so your emirate does not decide where you lodge. It may matter for biometrics logistics and for consular services, so check the embassy page.

### Can Visa Doctor get my Australian visa approved?

No agency can. We prepare and check your documents and help with booking steps, and Home Affairs makes the decision.
